Almost three weeks ago, I ranked 2nd on my school's math quiz bee

competition. I still can't believe that I made it this far. Even before I joined the
Science, Technology, and Engineering Program, I doubted myself. I don't know if
I can catch up with the other bright students. When the school year started, it
wasn't easy, but I kept on studying hard. Little did I know that I would achieve this
fantastic milestone. All the sleepless nights, math tutorials binge-watching on
Youtube, and the non-stop reading of modules paid off. I was so happy, and my
family was so proud of me. This memorable event proved that I can do better and
father from my expectations as long as I am hard-working and dedicated.
Currently, me and my other five schoolmates, who also topped the quiz bee, are
preparing for the math quiz bee district-level competition. As usual, I am nervous
about it, but it is an honor to represent my school and showcase my knowledge in
math. I will do my best as always.

Grade 2, when I was elected as the class president. No one told me to do it, kasi trip ko lang
po talaga sa una yung president kasi high position, wala namang mawawala if I tried. I was
the class president for 4 consecutive years.
I was awarded to be the Girl scout of the year kasi yung team lang namin ang nakakuha ng
full gold stars.

I am leading the Youth for Environment in Schools Organization of Mariveles National High
School-Poblacion along with the other 6 officers and four teams. Our organization’s main
advocacy is to promote environmental preservation. May mga projects and activities kami na
inilulunsad na nakatutulong sa environment such as waste management, 5rs, water
conservation, proper waste disposal and mga interactive activities. Recently nagkaroon kami
ng YES-O-YES Camp is a virtual team-building joined by almost 60 students from Poblacion.
Nagkaroon rin ng hydroponics farming webinar and we reached almost 2, 000 people. In the
Another achievement!

Behind all the organization’s achievement, nakasupport sina Ma’am Cristina Pagaling and
Ma’am Delfa Dabu, the advisers of the organizations to make these activities possible. Kaming
We are divided to four teams. The technical team which are in charge in social media
We also have the program
Then we have the
infographics. Last but not the least ay ang Marketing team, sila ay in charge sa funds ng
organization such as fundraising projects. Since many activities ng organization require funds,
kailangan talaga na may budget kami. These four teams plays a vital role sa pagpapatuloy ng
organization.

First of
all, patong-patong na problems sa household and academic performances. Meron ding weak
internet connection and yung iba naman may ibang priorities. So, I have to be considerate and
be patient. In handling them, syempre una making sure that they’re okay and hear them out lalo
Pangalawa, I am trying my best to
stay in contact and build friendship, kasi magsasama kami the whole school year, so I want
them to feel comfortable sa org. and we’re a team and we’re doing this for our mother earth.
Pangatlo, be true to them. It’s not easy to handle an organization, so as a leader I have to be
transparent sa kanila, not to discourage them but to improve them. I want to build them as a
leader themselves. How? Build their confidence. Encourage and praise them.
 Mga challenges na kinahaharap as a leader and as a women
pa)

As a leader in general muna, common challenges are inconsistency, unexpected events

na nakakaapekto sa activities namin, and inactivity of members. I am only a leader, I
lead a team. I am not the team. Napakahalaga sa akin ng cooperation ng bawat
members, kasi aside from the organization, I also have other priorities lalo na’t moving
up na ako sa senior high. I can’t do all the work or just 6 members doing all the work,
everyone must cooperate and participate.

As a woman who leads, I don’t think I experienced gender barriers or I’m just too busy
to notice, CHAROT! Pero sige, as I mentioned earlier, diba I was recognized as the girl
scout of the year, and our team had full gold stars, Yung stars ay award na nakukuha
I may be wrong pero
may blue, yellow and gold stars ata. Naiinis nga kami kasi puro gold stars kami tapos
nung iba’t ibang color.
So yun nga, sa lahat ng teams, mapa-boy scout or girl scout,
kami ang pinakamataas. Some couldn’t believe it and inisip nila na ginupit namin yung
So I was like- huh? It’s
not our fault that our team had the best performance, why would you accuse us of
cheating?

Ayon lang naman, anyhow I won’t let gender barriers stop me from doing my passion
in leadership and you guys should too.
