Procedure & Recommendations

TENTATIVE PROCEDURE FOR 9-5/8”CASING CEMENT JOB
SP-271
MG-396

1. Hold a Pre-Job Toolbox and safety meeting.

2. Pressure test surface lines to 3,000psi.

3. Circulate for 2 cycles of Mud. Make sure YP < 10 pphf..

4. Pump 40 bbl of Pre-flush 2 (8.6 ppg) @6 bpm

5. Pump 50 bbl of Spacer (12.0 ppg) @ 6bpm.

6. Drop Bottom Plug.

7. Fly-Mix & Pump 211 bbl of Lead Cement Slurry 12.5 ppg @ 5 bpm.

8. Pump 122 bbl of Tail Cement Slurry 15.8 ppg @ 4 bpm.

9. Drop Top Plug and flush Cement lines by 10 bbl of water as displacement into the casing.

10. Displace the Cement using Rig Pump & Lines with +/-366.8 bbl of Displacement fluid.

 300 bbl @ 10 bpm

 54 bbl @ 8 bpm
 12.8 bbl @ 4 bpm
Recalculate the volume on the Rig (Monitor the losses, the rates can be reduced if the losses
are there).

11. If the Plug Bumps then Pressure up to 500 psi above differential.
(As Per KOC Policy)

12. If the Plug doesn’t bump, pump the calculated displacement volume plus 3 bbl.

13. If floats hold and no back flow observed, remove cement head and WOC.

14. If the float doesn’t hold (or) Back flow observed, then close the valves on the cement head and hold
pressure until cement set.

15. Conduct Top Job with 15.8 Class G Neat Cement. Each Top Job volumes not to exceed 25 BBLS. If
Well not Static Repeat Top Jobs in consultation with the base.
16. WOC for 24Hrs.

17. Keep cement sample in water bath at Downhole temperature and check when it sets

RECOMMENDATION
 While Pumping or during displacement keep the pipe reciprocate or in rotation. It might help to clean the
mud properly.

 100 bbl of 15.8ppg equivalent cement will be carried to the location for Top Job

 Mud conditioning is recommend before doing the cement job (mud YP =10 or less).

 Do not displace more than 1/2 shoe track.

 Actual displacement volume must be calc ulated and agreed upon by the company man and the
NAPESCO supervisor prior to the job and based on actual well data and casing tally.

 This program is tentative and subject to change as per actual well scenarios on location.

 If there is a top Job, we recommend using class G cement.

 70% standoff is recommended and follows the centralizer program attached.

 Follow the Mixing order in the Lab Report.

 Collect mix fluid samples, cement samples one set of sample to company man and one set of sample
for NAPESCO Lab.

 Do not mix the cement Slurry till company man confirms.

 Check the salinity of the water using chloride strips.

 Frac Density of 16 ppg & 10 ppg of Pore Density are considered in simulator at TD.

 Check mud pump efficiency for discharge.

 Quality of cement bond, being critical & crucial, should be taken after 60 -72 Hrs . This will remove any
ambiguity or doubt on isolation of water Zone below and between the zones.

 Casing to be reciprocated while cementation and circulation if possible.

Top Job (In case Level Drops):

 15.8# Class G: The first batch should be 40 bbls wi thout CaCl2. The Second batch, if
required, should be 25 bbls having 1-2% CaCl2. In case of losses, wait for 2 hrs. Before the
2nd Top Job. Subsequent Top Jobs may be of 25 - 40 bbls batch size depending on the
losses. In case of minor losse s, check static level with water before carrying out next Top
Job.
 After 2nd Top Job and in case of repetition, Loosen the BOP studs keeping 4 diagonal studs
intact.
 Observe the well for 1/2 hour after the 2nd t op job and set casing slips if found well to be
static.
 Continue top job @ 2 hr . duration with 40 Bbls batch size through one side of well head
valve keeping the other side open till cement to surface & level static.
 If there is gas inflow contact D.E. Prepar e 100 Bbls of 100 PPB heavy doze LCM pill. The
same may be pumped followed by 50 Bbls of 15.8 PPG Class-G cement treated with 1 -
2% CaCl2.
 If gas influx continues contact D.E. again for next course of action.
