Possible causes
1. Faulty Diagnosis Sensor Unit
2. Diagnosis Sensor Unit harness is open or shorted
3. Diagnosis Sensor Unit circuit poor electrical connection
Possible Solution
- “Power Steering Pressure (PSP) Switch Malfunction In Key On, Engine Off Self-Test, this
DTC indicates the PSP input to the PCM is high. In Key On, Engine Running Self-Test, this
DTC indicates that the PSP input did not change state. Steering wheel must be turned
during Key On, Engine Running Self-Test PSP switch/shorting bar damaged SIG RTN
circuit open PSP circuit open or shorted to SIGRTN PCM damaged.”

Possible causes
1. Faulty Theft Deterrent Module (TDM)
2. Theft Deterrent Module (TDM) harness is open or shorted
3. Theft Deterrent Module (TDM) circuit poor electrical connection

Possible Solution
- “Gasoline engines use spark plugs to cause an explosion of fuel within the cylinder. In a
properly timed engine, this explosion occurs at the proper moment to send the piston to
the bottom of the cylinder and provide power to the drive shaft. If the plug wires are out
of sequence, the explosion occurs at the wrong time. The improper timing of the
explosion sometimes pushes the cylinder the wrong direction or interferes with the
turning of the crank. As a result, the engine stutters or backfires, if it runs at all.”

Possible Solution
“Disconnected, dirty or fouled spark plugs are common causes for engines that won't start.
Spark plugs typically need to be replaced every season or 25 hours of use. You should also check
that the spark plug gap is set properly. If your spark plugs look good, problems with your
ignition system can also prevent a spark. These can range from a faulty spark plug lead, shorted
kill switch or flywheel key damage.”

i. Failed catalytic converter

Description
- engine control module (ECM) detecting the fuel level sensor “B” performance.

Causes
1. The engine control module (ECM) uses fuel level sensors A and B output voltages to
determine the vehicle's fuel control. The two fuel senders are used on vehicles that have
a dual bladder or a dual sump fuel tank.
2. The sensor does not move indicating the fuel is going down after a certain amount of
miles are driven. (e.g., it is after 100km or 62 miles for a Chevrolet)
3. There is a difference between the two sensors of about 7 gallons after about 200 km or
120 miles are driven, or for more than 30 minutes of driving.

Symptoms

1. The fuel system may not reflect how much fuel is in the fuel tank.
2. The vehicle may run out of fuel if the fuel tank sensor is not accurate.
