We, the student researchers from the University of St. La Salle, are writing this letter
to present our request for the hotel and the employees’ participation and consent in
the collection of data for the pilot testing of our Research Instrument from our
Research Study entitled “Live or Leave: A Comparative Analysis of Standard Class
Hotel Employees’ Stress Levels” as a part of the requirements for the completion of
our degree in Bachelor of Science in Tourism Management.

Anonymity, privacy, and confidentiality will be assured in the collection, storage, and
publication of this research material and will remain to be used for academic purposes
only. Attached is the Statement of the Problem, Informed Consent Form, Consent
Certificate, and the Research Instrument (Survey Questionnaire) of the study for your
reference.

Statement of the Problem

This study seeks to ascertain if the standard class hotel employees' workrelated

stress levels during the pre-COVID differ at the present in Bacolod City.

Specifically, the study aims to answer the subsequent questions:

1. What is the demographic profile of the participants in terms of:

a. age;

b. sex;

c. marital status;

d. educational attainment;

e. department;

f. tenure;

g. salary?

2. What is the extent of work-related stressors faced by the standard class hotel

employees during the pre-COVID era and at the present in terms of:

a. job demands;

b. job control;

c. role clarity;

d. interpersonal relationships;

e. social support;

f. organizational policies?

3. How does the standard class hotel employee respond to various stressors in terms of:

a. psychological stress responses;

b. behavioral stress responses;

c. cognitive stress responses?


4. Is there a significant difference between the participants’ demographic profile

and their work-related stressors during the pre-COVID era and at the present?

5. Is there a significant difference between the participants’ demographic profile

and their level of stress responses?

6. What Stress Management Programs can the standard class hotel management

develop or implement for employees to cope with or alleviate work-related stress?

Class Hotel Employees like you.

The Researchers

Purpose of the Study

The main objective of this study is to ascertain if the standard class hotel employees' work-
related stress levels during the pre-COVID era differ at the present in Bacolod City. Likewise,
during the pre-COVID era and at the present work-related stressors and stress responses are
the basis for determining what Stress Management Programs can the management develop or
implement for employees to cope with or alleviate work-related stress.

Participant Selection

You have been invited to participate because you belong to the Standard Class Hotels in Bacolod
City.

This study is part of the requirements for the completion of a degree in Bachelor of Science in
Tourism Management.

Benefits of the Study

While this research does not give you any direct benefit, your participation in this study will be
specifically insightful in determining key information on the demographic profile, pre-
COVID era and at the present stress levels, and stress responses of the employees in the
Standard Class Hotels of Bacolod City.

Duration

Answering the survey questionnaire face-to-face may take ten (10) to fifteen (15) minutes of
your time.

Risks of the Study

You may have to share some personal information that will make you feel uncomfortable.
Should this happen, know that you may not have to answer or take part in this survey,

Confidentiality, Privacy, and Anonymity

The Anonymity, Privacy, and Confidentiality will be ensured in the collection, storage, and
publication of this research material.

Identifiers about you (such as your name, contact number, email address, FB/Messenger/Instagram
accounts, etc.) and the information that you will share are removed from the database during the data
processing phase. In addition to this, only the researchers and data encoders who will process the data
are given access to the information you have provided. The data generated will be kept secured in
paper or electronic form for a period of one year after the completion of the study.

Voluntary Participation

As participation is entirely voluntary on your part, you may or may not take part in this study. Should
you decide not to participate, please know that nothing changes in any or all of your employee-related
evaluations or your job in the standard class hotel establishment. If you withdraw at any time, you
may do so. Should you decide to participate, you may fill out and sign the
Consent Certificate or press the “Yes” button on the Consent Certificate section on Google Forms
followed by the Respondent’s Profile, before proceeding to the Research Instrument provided.
