SAP Ariba

Introduction
SAP Ariba is a cloud-based software focused on conducting procurement activities.
Ariba is divided into two based on client requirements. This is to breakdown the subscription cost.
1. Upstream – for strategic Sourcing
2. Down Stream – for Buying & Invoicing
These are two databases in cloud. This mean that product/supplier that are available in
upstream may be available in downstream.
Procurement material can be
Catalog item: Known products where we know the source of supply and can be created/loaded in
downstream
Non-catalog item: Unknow products where we don’t know the source of supply and can be created in
downstream (of course also in upstream). If you put a product in upstream whenever procurement
happens this product always goes to sourcing (finding supplier/price) etc. This way the client gets better
price. So, non-catalog items are always be created and used mainly in upstream.
Upstream: It’s a strategic sourcing where we find and finalize the best source of supply for non-catalog
items.
Downstream: Here we repeat the procurement process over & over again for catalog item.
Modules in Upstream (Separate DB)
1. Sourcing
a. RFI (Request for Info)
b. RFP (Request for Proposal)
c. Template Configuration
2. Contract
