C. Analysis
Analysis of the activity.
Reasoning is what we do when we take
information that we are given, compare it to
what
we already know, and then come up with a
conclusion.
While much of our ability to reason is innate,
these skills can be taught and improved upon.

SY 2021-2022

Reasoning skills often happen subconsciously

and within seconds. However, sometimes we
need to think things through to reach a
conclusion when we are presented with a tough
question or situation.
Reasoning skills are essential to day-to-day life:
we use them to make choices among possible
options, to distinguish between positive and
negative situations, to decide how to approach a
problem and resolve it, and much more. As we
consider some more specific examples, keep in
mind this equation, which may help you to
understand how it all works:
Given Information + Knowledge = Reasoned
Conclusion

author’s reasoning in a given selection.

scenario and learners respond on how they will

judge the situation.
B. Activity
Reading of the Article

C. Analysis
Analysis of the article, its relevance or worth of
ideas, and soundness of the author’s reasoning.

Judgment is the ability to combine personal

qualities with relevant knowledge and
experience to form opinions and make decisions.
It is what enables a sound choice in the absence
of clear-cut, relevant data or an obvious path.
To some degree we are all capable of forming
views and interpreting evidence. What we need,
of course, is good judgment.
Some experts define it as an acquired instinct or
“gut feeling” that somehow combines deep
experience with analytic skills at an unconscious
level to produce an insight or recognize a
pattern that others overlook.
D. Abstraction
The teacher explains how to judge the
soundness and worth of ideas in a text.

E. Application / Assessment
The students answer the activity in the Learning
