Promotion of Environmental Stewardship

Because of the rise of both reactive and proactive environmentally friendly methods, the digitalization of
manufacturing has far-reaching consequences for societal and economic sustainability (Kamble et al.,
2018). Technologies like additive manufacturing, automated virtual reality, and high-performance
computing computer-aided design and manufacturing (HPC-CADM) all contribute to the creation of
novel eco-friendly goods (Ford and Despeisse, 2016; Niaki et al., 2019). The data and information
integration, sharing, and management capabilities of IIoT, IoS, and cloud big data enable the value-
network-wide development of environmental management capabilities, which is particularly important
given the information-intensive nature of environmental management practises like life cycle
assessment, Eco Balance, or environmental performance benchmarking (Gbededo et al., 2018; Khuntia
et al., 2018). When considered from the perspective of economic sustainability, the digital revolution
would provide companies with the means to collect data about the market and better detect and exploit
possibilities in the realm of environmental sustainability (Jabbour et al., 2018b). The environmental
sustainability options afforded by the increased productivity made possible by Digitalization in the forms
of collaborative production management, supply chain-wide knowledge management capabilities,
production flexibility, and design modularity are many (Kiel et al., 2017; Niaki et al., 2019).

Growth of human capital

Human capital is undergoing a dramatic transition as a result of digital transformation (Longo et al.,
2017). Researchers have shown that technological and automated process simplification leads to better
decision making, which in turn leads to greater human resource productivity (Sivathanu and Pillai, 2018).
The use of AI and data analytics technologies may help the management draw useful conclusions from
their employees' records, allowing them to tailor training and advancement opportunities to the specific
interests, strengths, weaknesses, personality traits, and learning styles of their staff (Stone et al., 2018).
What's more, the use of visual and simulation technologies like AVR provides one of the most efficient
methods of industrial training (Martin-Gutierrez et al., 2015). All things considered, the learning process
with AVR is less expensive, less risky, faster, and more fruitful. To better prepare for potentially risky or
delicate repairs, for instance, maintenance workers might rehearse in a safe environment (Gavish et al.,
2015). Furthermore, businesses may use AI and predictive analytics to review past applicants for a
certain position and choose the most qualified individuals who already possess the necessary skills
(Karatop et al., 2015; Stone et al., 2018; Upadhyay and Khandelwal, 2018). Human resource
development programmes that take use of digital tools may boost both individual and organisational
performance, which is good for the economy as a whole.
