A Semi-Detailed Lesson Plan in Music 7

I. Objectives

At the end of the lesson, the students are expected to do the following:
a. Identify the sounds of the different instruments in Mindoro.
b. Distinguish the different instrumental and vocal music of Mindoro.
c. Value the importance of learning the uniqueness of the vocal and
instrumental music of Mindoro.

II. Subject Matter/Content


a. Topic: Music of Mindoro
b. Materials: Powerpoint presentation, laptop, speaker, flashcards
c. Reference: Music and Arts 7 Teacher’s Guide p. 69-71

III. Procedure

Motivation:
The teacher will show a video to the class. The video is all about the
music and culture of the Mangyans in Mindoro. The class will observe the
characteristic of music and culture they have.

A. Activating Prior Knowledge


From the video presented, the teacher will ask the students the
following questions:
1. What can you say about their culture, based from the pictures
in the video?
2. What did you observe with the music that you just have heard?
3. What do you think the instruments were made up of?
4. What do you think is our lesson for today?

From the questions, the teacher will now connect the presentation to the
lesson of the day.

B. Acquiring New Knowledge

The teacher will now introduce the lesson to the students. She will
discuss the nature and background of the music of Mindoro. She will
present to the class the vocal and instrumental music of Mindoro with the
aid of pictures and audios.
Through this, they will learn new things about the music of
Mindoro.

C. Application
The teacher will show some videos about the different vocal music
and on how to play the different instruments of Mindoro. She will let the
students observe the characteristic of the vocals and on how to properly
use the different instruments of Mindoro.

D. Assessment
Quiz:
To assess the students’ learnings about the lesson, the teacher will
facilitate a quiz. They will write their answer in a ¼ sheet of paper. The
students will only identify what is being described by the teacher.

The teacher will ask the class a question. What is the importance of
learning the different vocal and instrumental music of Mindoro?

Have an advance reading about the Music of Palawan.
