HIEGH RATE OF STREET ROBBERY IN NEW-BORTIANOR

DESCRIPTION OF THE PROBLEM

Street robbery is a crime which is a major source of fear among the public. It is defined as the use or
threat of force to steal property from a person in public space. Street robbery concentrates at specific
times, in particular places and happens to certain type of people. The routine activities of both offenders
and victims, and the timing of these can assist us in interpreting these patterns in robbery.

CAUSE OF STREET ROBBERY

Street robbery is typically motivated by the desire to obtain money that is poverty, unemployment, drug
abuse, peer pressure, parental neglect etc. brings about street robbery. It occurs when motivated offenders
encounter suitable victims in an environment that facilitates robbery. During the investigation, most of the
streets turns out bark at night this as a result of using street light which can be turn on/off by a switch on
the pole.

EFFET OF STREET ROBBERY

Members of my community are actually crying due to this kind of act in the community. First of all, it
slows down marking in the community, market women mostly find them self as a victim when they
decide to go to town to buy goods or foods staffs for their stores due to the huge sum of money, they carry
on them. Shops on the street close very early which makes it very difficult for one to get something to buy
in the evening. Transportation becomes difficult at night. Most of the taxi drivers have been a victim of
this act in the community and are afraid of working at night.

PROPOSED SOLUTION

It is the need to install LDRs street light on the street to prevent darkness on the street at night and down
to prevent the robber from using the darkness as their spot for their operations. All though the installation
of the LDRs street light does not ensure the completely prevention of street robbery in the community but
will help the individual to see when there is danger ahead of him/her.

DESIGN AND IMPLEMENTATION OF THE PROPOSED SOLUTION

A street light that automatically switches ON when the night falls and turns OFF when the sun rises. In
fact, we can use this circuit for implementing any type of automatic night light. The circuit uses a LDR to
sense the light. When there is light the resistance of LDR will be low. So, the voltage drop across POT R2
will be high.
 This keeps the transistor Q1 ON. The collector of Q1(BC107) is coupled to base of Q2(SL100).
So Q2 will be OFF and so do the relay. The bulb will remain OFF. When night falls the resistance of
LDR increases to make the voltage across the POT R2 to decrease below 0.6V. This makes transistor Q1
OFF which in turn makes Q2 ON. The relay will be energized and the bulb will glow.
