INTRODUCTION

Quality of Work Life is the quality of relationship between employees and total work
environment, concern for the impact of work on individuals as well as on organizational
effectiveness and the idea of participation in organizational problem solving and decision
making. The success of every organization is highly dependent on the utilization of
organizational goals. To achieve organizational goals, individual goals have to be satisfied,
in that Quality of work life directly contributes to the utilization, development and
achievement of organization and human resource goals. The research model for this study
was based on the factors affecting Quality of work- life and the relationships between
QWL and satisfaction of the employees in the Private Limited Companies.

Quality of Work Life of the employees in an organization is the work environment. It is


the responsibility of the management to provide a work environment, which is conducive to
good performance. To prevent such a possibility from arising, the management should
provide a good working environment where employees can work without stress, where
necessary information for accomplishing tasks is made available, adequate and fair
compensation given in the workplace is safe, healthy and the supervisors motivate the
employees.

The Management in every organization should sincerely invite their employees to suggest
ways to improve their operation and the quality of their work life, only if these ideas are
received in a spirit of appreciation. The employees should then be asked to participate in
studying the feasibility that survives such review. Employee Security, Career
Opportunities, and the Opportunities for Employees to have voice in matters which affect
them is entirely consistent with meticulously controlled operations in the interest of
effectiveness, Quality Assurance, Customer Service, Profitability and High Morale.
DEFINITION

The Quality of Work Life (QWL) as a strategy of Human Resource Management has
assumed increasing interest and importance. Many other terms have come to be used
interchangeably with QWL such as ‘humanizations of work’ ,'quality of working life ',
‘industrial democracy’ and ‘participative work’. There are divergent views as to the exact

meaning of QWL.

NEED FOR THE STUDY

Quality of Work Life is significant to all the organizational inputs which leads to
employees' satisfaction and influences organizational effectiveness1. The importance of
quality of work life is to improve the productivity of employees which is the economic
strength of the organization.

Study on QWL helps to know the problems and issues of employees which can help us in
improving it by following some necessary measures.

SCOPE OF THE STUDY

The study is confined to the “Quality of Work Life” of employees working at Swio
Corporate Pvt Ltd. The aim of the project is to study the present system and to find the
factors that affect the Quality of Work Life and suggest recommendations if necessary. The
study includes all the employees working in startups apart from Management.

PERIOD OF THE STUDY


The time period for this research study has started from July(getting to know the
perceptions and thoughts of employees) and research will end before the submission of the
project.

OBJECTIVES OF STUDY

The project report is based on the topic “ Study of Quality of Work in Startups” at Swio
Corporate Pvt Ltd. The following are the objectives of the study:

➔ To study the quality of work life (QWL) of employees


➔ To find out how quality of work life leads to high satisfaction/productivity
➔ To know the existing working conditions & improve the quality of work life.
➔ To examine how the training and development programmes help to improve the
quality of work life.
➔ To know how the various welfare activities and other benefits helps to bring a better
quality of work life
➔ To improve physical and psychological health of employees which creates positive
thinking.
➔ To improve the productivity of employees by different methods
➔ To find out the motivational factors to improve the quality of work life
➔ To study Quality of Work - WFH vs WFO vs Hybrid

RESEARCH METHODOLOGY

Research methodology is a way to systematically show the research problem. Methodology


used is descriptive study. This method was suitable for the study because of the volume of
data available. Questionnaires were administered for a few employees working in startups
and were analyzed.

To know the employees’ perceptions about the work life at Swio Corporate Pvt Ltd

1. To study the work satisfaction level of employees

2. To study the problems faced by the employees in balancing personal life


3. To study how they are maintaining proper quality work life

The data collection would be Primary Data (Personal Interviews, Surveys, Questionnaire)
and Secondary Data (Published Journals, Data by Govt, Online Portals and News)

LIMITATIONS OF THE STUDY

The study is limited to the employees working at Swio Corporate Pvt Ltd - Hyderabad and
therefore the findings of the study cannot be extended to other areas.

The study includes some limitations as mentioned below:

1. To access a large number of employees was difficult because it is a startup company and
has a limited number of employees.

2. Few employees were hesitant to share their views because they were not sure about the
confidentiality.

Thus, above all will be the limitations in this research study. The maximum efforts were
made to overcome these limitations.
