National Institute of Technolo Rourkela Department of Electrical Engineerin: To study the single phase full controlled bridge converter with R & R-L load. Name of The Equipment ‘Specification ‘Single Phase Full Controlled Converter Kit ‘Single phase VARIAC O-270V,15A, 40SKVA Rheostat 0-100 Taductor O-100mFT Voltmeter 0-300V, PMMC “Ammeter O-5A, PMC Differential Probe & Current Probe 20:1 & TOOmVIA DSO with probe 2 Channel, SOMHz, 1GSals 230V AC, amne(ay ‘Theory: The full controlled rectifier has four thyristors. During positive half cycles of input voltage, thyristors T; and Ty are triggered at ota. The load is connected to source through T; & Ts. Similarly in negative half cycle of input voltage, Tr & Ts get forward biased and triggered at o=n+a, It tends to apply the supply voltage across thyristors Ty & T, as reverse blocking voltage. T, & Ty are tuned off due to line or natural commutation and the load current is transferred from T, & Ty to T2 & T3.The average output voltage can be found using below formula:= avr Vavg= "coset The VARIAC position must be at zero before switching ON the circuit, “The firing circuit knob position should be at 180° before start. {Consult with teacher before switching ON the circuit, Procedure:- Connect the circuit with R load/R-L load as shown in the circuit diagram. 4 Switch ON the power supply and gradually increase the voltage up to 100V by VARIAC. Vary the firing angle by the controller from 0° to 180° in steps as instructed. + Note down the voltage and current readings from meters. Observe & take the voltage and current waveform in DSO.
