MATERIALS

• School Issued Laptop

computer if your laptop is not charged!
Follow all rules and regulations (both school and teacher) for laptop use in the classroom.

• Three – Ring Binder

Your Geometry binder must contain all notes, handouts, and homework. Use the following checklist to
ensure that your notebook is well organized and complete.
✓ Notes are secure and orderly
✓ The date and daily objective are displayed at the beginning of each day’s notes
✓ All notes are present and complete
✓ All diagrams and explanations of diagrams are complete
✓ All homework is included after each day’s notes
✓ All homework problems are checked and corrected in pen
Your binder should always remain accurate and up to date!

continue to further your understanding of each topic.

Homework 15%

Tests 50%

• Classwork/Participation
You are expected to come to class with the appropriate materials, prepared to learn and participate
fully in each day’s lesson. In many cases, activities will be accomplished in groups of 3 or 4. The following
checklist may be used to ensure success in these cooperative learning activities:

✓ Participation
o Completing your assigned role
o Sharing ideas and information with group mates
o Actively participation in discussions
o Checking for others’ understanding of the material
o Encouraging other members of your group to learn and understand the material

✓ Listening
o Listening and following directions
o Remaining actively involved in group discussion
o Reaching a consensus on a topic

✓ Staying on Task
o Getting started quickly
o Working on the assigned task
o Following all directions
o Keeping track of time
o Completing the assigned task

• Homework
Homework is designed to supplement classwork and develop skills in reading comprehension and
writing. It provides you with the opportunity to practice and reinforce skills on a daily basis, and it will be
checked each day. Late homework will not receive any credit. Homework will be checked for
completion. In order to earn full credit, all work must be shown, every problem must be attempted. In
addition, all diagrams must be included. Any homework that is assigned with access to answers should
be checked and corrected in pen. It should also be completed on a separate sheet of paper so that it
may be collected.

• Quizzes and Tests

Quizzes will be assigned frequently to check for understanding of topics. Tests will be assigned at the
end of each unit. Students are expected to study for tests and quizzes.
CELL PHONES

Students must follow the school policy regarding cell phone use in class. Cell phones should remain
turned off and in the student’s backpack.

ABSENCES

If a student is absent, the student is responsible for all material that he/she missed. You can always
access your homework via the Student Portal. An absence does not excuse you from class notes or
homework assignments. The student has as many days as he or she is absent to make up any missing
work. For example, if a student is absent for two class periods, he or she has two days to turn in missing
homework, classwork, or assessments. If a student is absent on the day of a test/quiz, it must be taken on
the day that the student returns to school. If the student fails to complete any missing assignments in a
timely manner, a grade of “NW” (no work) will be entered into the portal. In addition, the student is
encouraged to come in for extra help to work on missed material and class notes.

COMMUNICATION

• All homework assignments will be posted on the calendar accessed in the Student Portal. As homework
will always be announced and displayed in class, please do not rely entirely on Realtime to access your
homework assignments!

• My email address: rdiscepolo@mahwah.k12.nj.us is the best way to reach me. I will do my best to
