Lesson Title Factoring and solving for zeros
Content Area Algebra 2 10th-11th grade

Content Standards MGSE9-12.A.APR.3 Identify zeros of polynomials when suitable factorizations are available, and
use the zeros to construct a rough graph of the function defined by the polynomial
Technology Standards 1.1c Students Use technology to seek feedback that informs and improves their practice and to
demonstrate their learning in a variety of ways.
1.4d Students exhibit a tolerance for ambiguity, perseverance, and the capacity to work with
open-ended problems.
1.5b Students collect data or identify relevant data sets, use digital tools to analyze them,
and represent data in various ways to facilitate problem-solving and decision-making.
1.6.a Students choose the appropriate platforms and tools for meeting the desired objectives
of their creation or communication
Integrated Technology Desmos Activity:

using a tablet or computer
Type of Instructional It is an open-ended drill and practice
Software
Software Feature They can see other peoples answers at the end of posting and help them refresh their memory
and I can monitor progress and see who needs help and catch common mistakes
Bloom’s Taxonomy , Different levels of Understanding, Applying, Analyzing, Evaluating, Creating
Levels
Integration Level Different samples of Level 2: Exploration, Level 3: Infusion, Level 4: Integration,.
Universal Design Rationale There are symbolic ways of figuring out and visual ways to help them solve the problems using
the graph and their understanding.
Lesson Idea In at least two paragraphs, describe the following:
Students are to provide their thinking, while they create their own function, and graphing to
help provide them a deeper understand and connection between graphing and solving
quadratic function. This is a semi review for finding zeros and in introduction of graphing
quadratic functions and helps provide a visualization of this topic. I will overview what they are
thinking of how they solved for the function and what they took away from graphing their
function. They can create their won functions and let them write down their thinking, so they
have to create an understanding of the content they just went through. The feedback will just
be going into graphing functions as this is just a preview

Design Reflection After designing this lesson idea, reflect on the following:
How do you feel the activities you created could impact student learning?
I think it will help solidify their understanding of zeros with the graphical representation
You may have designed this idea as an introductory activity to a unit of study. With that in
mind, what could be done to further extend the lesson?
Provide students with a graph and tell them to figure out the zeros
Are there other technology tools that could further enhance this project?
Yes, there are plenty of other graphing lessons they could use like GeoGebra and other drill and
practice softwares
