EDCI 201 COMMON ASSIGNMENT

PHILOSOPHY & PROFESSIONAL WEBSITE

 Write a reflection on ALL of the questions/statements within each section of this assignment.  Each
section has a separate due date.  Your final product will be completed throughout the entire semester.
 At the beginning of the semester, you will select a digital platform on which to display your educational
beliefs. Possible platforms are:
o  Google Sites      o Wix       o Weebly
 You will create your professional website as you would for your first year of teaching.  Your audience
will be your future administrators, students, and parents.  While the content you share will represent you
today as you are learning and grappling new concepts of teaching, schools, students, and society, you
should also write in such a way that you are representing your PROFESSIONAL future self. The
intention of this assignment is that you will have a start of a website you can "take with you"!  You will
be able to be update this website in future classes while at WCU and after graduation to represent you as
a classroom teacher or someone searching for a teaching position.
 You will create a product that incorporates visual components that capture the essence of who you
are/will be as a teacher in the 21st century. Again, consider your “voice” as you write.  Your audience
will be your future administrators, parents, students, etc.
 Technical requirements:
o You must have at least 3 videos total. For example, a video to support the information about
you as a teacher should be included on the section #1 tab.  A video about supporting your belief
about technology should be on the Section #5 tab, etc.  Three videos is the minimum required
and would allow you a 7 out of 10 points. See the rubric for an example of the score you will
receive based on the number of items you include.  (ie. 8/10 pts = More than 4 of
each:  graphics, videos and internet links per section.)
o Applicable pictures or graphics for each section is required. (Applicable means the pictures refer
to the section titles.) Embellish each of your tabs.
o Include internet links where indicated and as appropriate (specifically with videos and websites
that support what you reflect upon in each of the tabs.)
o Section #5, Technology, requires links to support each example.

o Each section, including the Me As A Teacher section, should include sources. Include the APA
formatted sources at the bottom of each tab.
 There should be NO grammar, spelling, or other errors! You must edit carefully.
 The reflection for the first tab, Me As A Teacher, will be written, peer-reviewed, edited and reviewed by
the instructor before creating/completing the tab itself.  The remaining reflections will be peer-reviewed
before you create the tab, though the instructor review will be done ON THE TAB ITSELF.

SECTION #5: TECHNOLOGY

Technology in schools is no longer new! We have had
computers in schools since the 80s! Most of today’s April 8, 2022
classrooms already have access to and use computers, iPad,
smart phones, smart boards, and music/stereo/video
equipment. These can almost be considered “old school”!
With this in mind, read the following requirement carefully.

TASK for self: Research innovative, technological resources I

could use in my future classroom to enhance student
learning.
 Find 3 examples of digital technology I might use in
MY classroom (elementary, middle, or high: math,
science, English, history, music, art, PE):
o learning applications and digital tools
o learning displays
o gaming systems
o innovative equipment
o networked learning platforms
 Provide a reflection on how specifically I will use each
type of technology in my future content area
classroom.
 Include web links for each example. In-text citations
