can use to produce two types of goods X and Y. To produce one unit of X 2
units of labour and 3 units of capital are required. Similarly 3 units of labour
and 1 unit of capital are required to produce one unit of Y. If X and Y are priced

Q8. Alpha Heavy Engineering Company produces earthmovers and harvesters.

Each product passes through two assembly departments A and B, Which
respectively have 300 hours and 320 hours of available time for the next
month’s production. Each earthmovers requires 20 hours in department A and
40 hours in department and each harvester requires 30 hours in department A
and 20 hours in department B. The two products are tested in a third
department. Each earthmover is given 60 hours of testing and harvester 20
hours and as per the agreement with the labor union, the total labor hours
devoted to testing cannot be below 270. The management has the operating
policy of manufacturing at least one harvester for every 2 earthmovers
produced. A major customer has placed an order for a minimum of 5

must be produced. Each earthmover gives the profit of Rs 10000 and each
harvester Rs 8000.
