Semi-detailed Lesson Plan in conductor and insulator

I. Objectives

After 60 minutes, 85% of the students will be able to:

a. Name and identify conductor and insulator and its uses .

b. Provide examples of materials that are good insulators and materials that are good
conductors.
c. Explain what is the differences between Conductors and Insulators.
d. Learn about teamwork and working in groups.

II. Subject Matter

A. Topic: Conductor and insulator
1. Key concepts

⚫ Understanding this lesson plan, to help you introduce your students about
insulators and conductors.
⚫Discuss new information, and perform a simple experiment to determine which
common materials are insulators and which are conductors.

C. Materials: pictures, marker, bond paper and etc.

D. Values Focus: Concentration

II. Learning Procedure

Teacher’s Activities Student’s Activities

A. Preparatory Activity
1. Prayer
2. Checking of Attendance
3. Review

B. Engage
1. The teacher will present the following
pictures and let the student guess and identify
whether conductor or insulator it is.
What are these pictures?

Students study the pictures and

share their ideas of each picture
presented

After the presentation, students

answers the questions:
Student one: The first picture is
Foam that is insulator the uses of
foam is it is provides effective
thermal insulation, as well as very
good levels of acoustic
insulation.
Student two: The second picture
is wooden spoon that is insulator
the uses of it is, it can preserve
heat and warmth and can keep
cold from moving out of a
structure as well.
Student three: The third picture is
alluminom and that is a conductor
the uses of this is
Aluminum provides a better
conductivity to weight ratio than
copper, and therefore is also used
for wiring power grids, including
overhead power transmission
lines and local power distribution
lines, as well as for power wiring
of some airplanes.
Student four: The fourth picture
is paper that is isulator the uses of
it is paper reduces the convection,
conduction and radiation of
heat and therefore it is a good
insulator of heat

Student five: The fifth picture

show as a conductor it is a copper
the uses of it is copper is the
electrical conductor in many
categories of electrical wiring.
Copper wire is used in power
generation, power transmission,
power distribution,
telecommunications, electronics
circuitry, and countless types of
electrical equipment. Copper and
its alloys are also used to make
electrical contacts.

Very Good!

2. Teacher will discuss what is the conductr and

insulator provide examples of materials that are good
insulators and materials that are good conductors.

INSULATOR-Insulators are the materials or

substances which resist or don’t allow the current to
flow through them. In general, they are solid in
nature. Also, insulators are finding use in a variety of
systems. As they do not allow the flow of heat.

CONDUCTOR- Conductors are the materials or

substances which allow electricity to flow through
them. They conduct electricity because they allow
electrons to flow easily inside them from atom to
atom. Also, conductors allow the transmission of heat
or light from one source to another.

These are the good condutor materials

 Silver.
 Gold.
 Copper.
 Aluminum.
 Mercury.
 Steel.
 Iron.
 Seawater.
And good insulator materils
 Rubber.
 Glass.
 Pure water.
 Oil.
 Air.
 Diamond.
 Dry wood.

The teacher will explain what is the differences

between Conductors and Insulators.
