LESSON PLAN

No of Ss: 21 Lesson: SEASONS

Textbook: Fairyland (Ed. Uniscan)/Workbook (Ed. Elicart)


Time of lesson: 45'
Type of lesson: Partial fixation/Communication of new knowledge

Lesson competences:

1. practice the use of new vocabulary;


2. practice the use of „like/don”t like” related to SEASONS;
3. practice the use of related vocabulary.

By the end of the lesson Ss will be able to:

a. identify the 4 seasons;


b. identify the related vocabulary;
c. use the new vocabulary, making sentences on their own;
d. use the vocabulary related to the lesson;

Skills: Speaking, Reading, Listening

Vocabulary: words related to seasons (spring, summer, autumn, winter ) and


adjectives (cold, sunny, snowy, hot), verbs (like/don”t like).

Grammar: like/don”t like…I like spring., etc…

Materials: video projector, post-its, drawings, word bucket, smart dictionary, stick,
smart phone, clepsydra/hourglass
Interaction: T-S; S-T; group work.

Teaching methods: conversation, explanation, video presentation, quizz/contest

Anticipated problems: Ss. may:

- not be familiar with the vocabulary and grammar issues related to the topic;
- have difficulties in using the revised vocabulary;
- be too shy to communicate in a foreign language.

Solutions:

- to re-introduce some of the vocabulary;


- to practice the vocabulary;
- to encourage Ss to communicate.

Activity I: Warm-up (5 min)


1. aims: - to create the proper atmosphere;
- to stimulate the Ss' interest about the topic of the lesson;
- to introduce the topic of the lesson.

2. procedure: T. checks if anyone is absent, then announces the topic of the


lesson. T. tells the Ss. that they are going to talk about seasons, about what season
they would like and which weather is suitable for each season. (4 pictures
displayed on the board—representing the 4 seasons)

Activity II: Listening (10 min)


Aim: to practice LISTENING

Procedure: The Students listen information about seasons. They will have to
answer with „I like/I don”t like…” ---smart dictionary

Activity III: READING/SPEAKING (10 minutes)
Aim: to encourage Ss to communicate in English, while talking about SEASONS
and sentences using the new vocabulary with `I like`.

Procedure: T. uses the word bucket (which Ss are familiar with from previous
lessons). Each student has to pick out a note and has to stick it on the notebook and
make a sentence with the word.
1. Summer---I like summer., etc

Activity IV: Reading/Listening (Trivia) (10 minutes)


Aim: to check students” information about the four seasons and their reading
skills.

Procedure: T. announces the Ss to open their notebooks and practise reading—


role practising. Then, they will listen to the text and check it.—page 30

Activity V:Speaking (contest) (5min)


Aim: to check the Ss’ understanding of the presented information.

Procedure: Ss. Have to mime a season that the teacher whispers to the ear of the
„captain” of the team (there are 4 teams, each having a captain) and the team/teams
that rapidly guess the word is/are the winner/winners.

Activity VI: Homework (5 min)


Aim: to encourage students to practice and use the information given in class

Procedure: Ss. have to draw and colour a season and write down the name of the
season and say if they like it or not.
