INSTRUMENTS POI: IFA
This Method statement covers installation of field instrument be carried out in AL DUR PHASE
2. This method was prepared as guideline for the effective execution of the work, Construction
personnel have to determine the update applicability of this MS in the accordance with approved
construction drawing, actual site condition and specific project requirements.
3.REFERENCE:
4. RESPONSIBILITIES:
a) Site Manager
Overall responsibility for the safe execution of the project and also responsible for
overall co-ordination with other agencies.
b) Construction Manager
Construction manager will be responsible for safe execution of work at site,
coordination with client engineers & progress monitoring.
c) E)Site engineer
Site engineer will be responsible for the monitoring the work to execute as per
approved drawings and documents and to arrange the resources to the site
team to execute the work as planned smoothly.
d) Site supervisor
Site supervisor will be responsible to implement the installation of work at site as per
approved drawings and monitor the quality& safety aspects and guide the foremen
accordingly.
e) QA/QC
1) Monitoring the site work as per the specification and the related quality procedures.
2) Arranging & coordinating with the consultants for the Inspection of site
works installation as per ITP (if any) for the approval.
3) Maintaining the site inspection and test records for further reference.
4) Raising and closing internal NCR if any
5) Documentation in accordance to approved PQP / ITP.

f) Safety Officer
1) The implementation of all the safety measures in accordance with the HSE
Plan and that whole work force is aware of its proper implementation.
2) Daily checking of work permit and tool box talk.
3) The implementation of safety measures in adequate to maintain a safety Working
environment on the site and supervising whether each worker is using necessary PPE.
4) Inspection of the all site activities and training of personnel in accident prevention and
related to HSE
5) Training, Electrical safety, confined space, Hot work, working at height and life safe
behavior.
g) Foreman
Foreman will allocate the manpower as required on site and arrange the tools and
tackles as required to execute the job smoothly.
5.PROCEDURE:
5.1 Preparation
1) Check and carry out a site check prior to installation activities follow all relevant
drawings and specifications for the installation being carried out. Review the
approved construction drawings like instrument location layout, Hook up drawing,
P&IDS, instrument mounting details and datasheet.
2) Verify the instrument if calibrated, Check tag.no and visible damage if any.
3) Work location clearance to proceed in installation activity.
4) If instrument to be installed in elevated place, check and ensure that approved
scaffolding is in place prior to work.

instrumentation equipment (including any specific legislation, regulations or codes of
practice for the activities, equipment or materials
1) The procedures to be carried out before starting work on the installation (such as
obtaining permits to work, obtaining and complying with risk assessments and other
health and safety requirements)

5.2 Installation
1) Survey and study the designed location of field instruments to be installed comparing
the installation details and layout. Should there be discrepancies or obstruction be found
in the construction drawings, site queries should be raised to for further site
instructions.
2) Check instrument locations and provide marking to which elevations, mounting height
and orientations should confirm the latest issued Approved for Construction drawings.
3D model provided by SIDEM shall be also referred to decide the most suitable
location.
3) Verify the support against instrument to be installed if suited as per requirement of
SIDEM technical scope of works and latest issued AFC. if necessary fabrication of
supports, brackets and pipe stanchions for local instruments to be made at sit and JEL
workshop Ensure that the orientation shall comply with the drawing layout considering
access point, service and tubing.
4) Install the field instruments considering its visibility and the possible location of name
plate. Install identification tags to be attached to the case or mounted directly on an
external surface as needed for instrumentation system.
5) Installation instruments shall be configured the instruments type, instrument tag,
correctly, mounted, leveled and aligned before fastening to the support in accordance
with hookup drawing. All instruments shall be mounted as close to the process
connecting as possible. Impulse lines shall be as short as possible. The location of
instruments shall be free from vibration so that operation can read the meter reading
clearly.
6) Check if the location is safe and easy access to operational and maintenance team. It
shall not be installed on hand rails nor supported by instrument tubing shall be
accessible from the grade or from permanently installed platforms.
7) Proper care shall be observed when removing and re-installing local instruments when
replacement or repair shall be done. Ensure that the flow direction after reinstallation
has been followed.
8) QCI shall conduct inspection and acceptance for local instruments installed to filed and
recorded on appropriate approval forms.
9) All transmitter installed outdoor must be protect against direct sun light through
sunshade.

9) Standard size spanner and screw drivers (star or flat type).

7.1 QC Inspection
1) Inspection for Instrument Installation. RFI for instrument installation activity shall be
coordinated by JEL QA/QC Inspector, who will implement the inspection program and
notify all parties involved in advance of the scheduled dates of inspection to enable
them to participate and Inspection of the following:
2) JEL QA/QC inspector shall conduct Internal and preliminary inspection shall be
done before submitting to contractor for final inspection
3) RFI will be raised for inspection once work and internal inspection is completed and
inspection checklist to be used.
4) Relevant records shall be signed by all the required parties and originals kept by the
QA/QC Department.
5) Acceptance criteria for inspection will be within Project specification and standards.
Required actions will be taken place as per site work condition for remarks and
punch lists noted during inspection.
9. DOCUMENTATION:
All reports issued for information related installation of instruments shall be submitted officially
SIDEM thru transmittal. Documents required as per Inspection and Test Plan (ITP) shall be signed
off with SIDEM Representative.
