Coterminal Angles 

are angles who share the same initial side and terminal sides.


 Two angles are coterminal if and only if the difference in their measurements is an
integer multiple of 2 (or 360)

 For example, and are coterminal since − =−2 π

7π −5 π 7 π −5 π
 Similarly, and are coterminal since − =4 π

When an angle is drawn with a vertex at the origin, its Reference Angle is the acute
angle between the terminal side of the angle and the x-axis.
 The reference angle for an angle between 0 and 90 is the angle itself
 The reference angle for an angle between 90 and 180 is the angle’s supplement
 Reference angles for angles in Quadrants III and IV are negative
