Reflection Paper on the Webinar “Sustaining the Tourism, Hospitality and Business
Industry Amidst the Pandemic”

1. After listening to the first speaker, what are your thoughts regarding the Tourism
industry’s future?
 Since tourism is one of the broadest industries and is dynamic and a very
competitive industry which is vital for the success of many economies
around the world, a lot of different thoughts has come to my mind and
senses regarding the tourism industry’s future after listening to the first
speaker who is Director Karina Rosa S. Tiopes, CESO III, the Regional
Director of Department of Tourism Region VIII. As she talked about how
the tourism industry is doing their best to maintain a smooth and safe
travel for everyone around Region 8 and other exit seaports, including the
assistance, advisories, and ways that they’re doing to regulate and ensure
its safe operation despite the pandemic, I came to think that the Tourism
industry’s current situation will certainly contribute or affect to how it will be
in the future since the industry right now is still recovering from suffering a
great loss that has been caused from the COVID-19. As it has been
stated that the tourism sector is currently recovering, I believe that tourism
will favor places and firms that can invest quickly in health screening, good
medical facilities, and the best offers since ensuring the public's safety is
still the top priority. I also think that in the future, tourism industry will
reclaim its former glory, as it had before the pandemic, and will continue to
improve and provide the greatest possible service to the public.
2. How can you contribute to the Safe Reopening and Restart in the Philippines and
in Eastern Visayas?
 Now that the government has eased its protocol and allowed tourism and
business establishments to reopen alongside other sectors, including the
safe reopening of schools as approved by the United Nations children’s
agency (UNICEF), I believe, the tiniest thing I can do to contribute or help
to the safe reopening and restart of Philippines and in Eastern Visayas is
of course to maintain my self-discipline; to always follow and obey the
rules and safety protocols that is being set by the government. If there is
still a need for facemasks, face shields and social distancing, then I won’t
hesitate to do so. Well, personally, knowing that I’m already complete with
my series of vaccines, I will still follow all the health regulations since the
safety of everyone is what’s at stake here. And even though we may
somehow say that the Philippines is slowly going back to normal knowing
that nowadays, there hasn’t been much new COVID-19 cases in the
country, we should still be alert because bacteria’s and diseases are still
everywhere and we might not know, COVID-19 is just a distance from us,
so let’s better do our part for us to not get infected and help lessen the
number of COVID-19 cases here in Eastern Visayas as well the whole
Philippines. Because nothing looks good as being healthy and being in a
healthy environment.
