DISCUSSION

Begin with a restatement of the novelty of the case or cases and one paragraph for discuss
each of the purposes noted in your introduction. Compare and contrast your case with those in the
literature: when relatively few cases have been reported, provide a table comparing the key findings
or outcomes. End with a summary of the literature and statement on clinicall relevance (1).
This section is about interpreting the findings, placing them in bigger context, relating them
to other work, and presenting take-home messages. Unlike for methods and results, author have a
lot of freedom how to write the discussion section-probably even more so than for the introduction.
A discussion focuses on your results initially, but then ultimately must leave a clear impression with
the reader how the results contributed to the resolving the broad issues that you outlined at the
beginning of the introduction (2).
