Equation of the regression line:

𝑦 ′ = 𝑎 + 𝑏𝑥 = 55.9 − 7.7𝑥

Interpretation:
The equation of the regression line is y’ = 55.9 – 7.7x, where the y-intercept is 55.9
and the slope is -7.7. In the problem, the slope b, which is -7.7 is the marginal change.
This means that every change in the value of x, which is the number of days absent, the
value of y which is the score in Math quiz, changes at -7.7 on the average. The value of
y-intercept is 55.9. This means that the score of a student will be 55.9 if he/she has no
absences.

What I Have Learned

1. I learned that I have to solve the product of x and y first, and find the square of the
values of x before start finding the equation of the regression line. Then solve all
the remaining summations needed in solving the y-intercept and slope. Finding the
relation between variables exists then test its significance.

2. There exists a relationship between the variables; and the relationship is tested to
be significant. These two are the assumptions in conducting a regression.

3. Conducting regression analysis would be pointless.

4. The slope b serves as the marginal change, which means that for every change of
x, the value of y also changes at what is the value of the slope on average.
