1. Define Population

The term "population" usually refers to the total number of people living in a
certain area, such as a city or town, region, nation, continent, or the entire world.

2. Define Population Pyramid

The population pyramid shows how the population is distributed by age and
gender at a certain moment. It is made up of two histograms, one for each gender
(by convention, males are on the left and women are on the right), where the ages
are displayed vertically and the numbers are displayed horizontally.

3. Differentiate Energy Pyramid to Biomass Pyramid

A pyramid of biomass illustrates the quantity of biomass (the amount of

living or organic matter contained in an organism) present in the organisms, as
opposed to a pyramid of energy, which depicts how much energy is preserved in the
form of new biomass at each trophic level.

4. Give three trends of population pyramid and define each

There are three trends in population pyramids: expansive, constrictive, and

stationary.

Extensive - often have each age group smaller in size or proportion than the one
born before it and exhibit higher numbers or percentages of the population in the
younger age groups.

Constrictive - show a smaller proportion of young people overall. This kind of

pyramid best describes the age-sex distributions in Pennsylvania and the United
States.

Stationary - Population pyramids that are stagnant or almost stationary are used to
depict populations that are not expanding. Their rectangular shape distinguishes
them, and they exhibit almost equal percentages across age cohorts that taper off at
the top.

5. What are the three classifications of population? Explain.

Population centres are classified into three groups, depending on the size
of their population: small population centres, with a population between 1,000 and
29,999. medium population centres, with a population between 30,000 and 99,999.
large urban population centres, with a population of 100,000 or more.

6. Give 5 disadvantages of over population growth.

1. High Cost of Living.
2. Shortage of supply
3. Degradation of Environment.
4. Rise in Unemployment.
5. Conflicts and Wars.
