1.0 INTRODUCTION

Lagenda Batik Perlis is a Program will be fully conducted at the Perlis


Malaysian Branch Craft Hall. Lagenda Batik Perlis is an event that focuses on the
uniqueness of batik in the State of Perlis which is a program that will be organized by
Students Tourism Management Semester 4 (DUP 4), Polytechnic Tuanku Syed
Sirajuddin, Pauh Putra Perlis. This ceremony will be held for 1 day at the Perlis State
Crafts Hall on 22nd November 2022 (Tuesday) from 8.00 am to 5.00 pm. The
implementation of the Perlis Batik Legend can give opportunities to external students,
one of whom is invited at each level. For example, Kindergarten to Public Higher
Education Institution categories for participation.

Besides, This paper is designed to request consideration and approval from


the management of Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Polytechnic to hold the Permata Batik
Perlis event to meet the specific requirements of DTM40134-Event Operation and
Management as our project. The main goal of this program is to promote Perlis batik
to the public that the State of Perlis has its own Batik in terms of its color, shape and
pattern. Not only that, with the joint venture with Mrs. Zalina Salleh who will introduce
Perlis Batik about her expertise in making batik according to her own creativity.

Not only that, the joined by Malaysian Handicrafts Association Perlis Branch
also joins together to increase the strength of tourism in terms of introducing
distinctive Malaysian handcraft items. Because not everyone is aware of the unique
qualities of Perlis Batik, our goal in hosting this event is to present Perlis Batik to the
general public. Thus, by holding this event, the community will get more familiar with
and appreciative of Perlis Batik.

2.0 OBJECTIVE OF THE PROGRAMME


This paperwork is submitted to achieve the following objectives:

5.1 To meet the requirements of the DTM 40134 Event Operation and Management
course for the assignment which is the project will contribute to 50% of the scoring.

5.2 To provide students an in-depth exposure to the operation and handling of real
events.

5.3 To introduce Perlis Batik to the public and give people the opportunity to try
making batik on their own

5.4 To obtain approval for external to cover the cost of the expenses of this program.
3.0 BACKGROUND OF THE PROGRAMME

This program will be organized by Diploma in Tourism Management students


in semester 4 under DTM 40134 Event & Operations Management. There are two
different programs on the same day, which is 02 November 2022. The main event of
this program is the Frog Jump Sports Game competition using batik fabric according
to categories from Kindergarten, primary school to IPTA and also the Perlis Craft,
Batik and Culture Exhibition, where participants will be revealed in one of Tourism
Creativity which is Culture and Batik. This program will be open to everyone,
especially the people of Perlis. Among the activities that will be carried out in this
event is the Batik Canting Competition which is canted by Puan Zalina Salleh which
is painted using candles on canvas with the theme of interesting places in the State
of Perlis. Next, the Fashion Show Game where they will decorate various styles by
using Batik according to the creativity of the participants.

In the afternoon, the program will focus on the closing ceremony which has
delivered a speech from the Head of Malaysian Crafts Perlis Branch, presentation of
prizes to competition winners, lucky draw. The intention of this program is to increase
the public's interest in Perlis batik and how it is made to appreciate Perlis batik which
has its own uniqueness in this small state. And this program is to make people aware
of Perlis Batik and they can try to draw and sew batik themselves.

4.0 LEARNING OUTCOME


Course learning outcome are the main guidelines that will be achieved during the
Planning and organization of the program “Introducing Batik Perlis“. This program
Can
help to achieved CLO in the course syllabus of DTM 40134 Event Management
and Operation.

CLO 1 Explain the concept of handling and event management in the tourism
And hospitality industry.
CLO 2 To know more deeply about the world of tourism which consists of various
branches, one of which is batik carving and handicrafts.
CLO 3 The program held includes planning, implementation, and discussion before
and after the program with the strongest teamwork.
5.0 OUTCOME / IMPACT FROM THE PROGRAMME

5.1 Students gain skills, knowledge and experience of organizing the real events
in line of tourism industry.
5.2 Students have the opportunity to learn, understand and improve their
knowledge in the field of culture in Malaysia.

program. Then, the Perlis Handicraft and Batik Exhibition, Lucky Draw, Batik Fashion
Show and Performance will take place. And while the exhibition will also be held for
all guests who attend the Perlis Batik Legend to see and learn about the various
cultures in Malaysia and why it is important for us to know.

15.0 CONCLUSION
The main purpose of this program is to share the knowledge of batik making
to everyone about batik and how to make batik and in addition, the certificate they
will receive from this event is very helpful for them in their program. Next, by
organizing this program, we hope to be able to give some knowledge to DUP4
students in certain topics, and also be able to strengthen cooperation and friendly
relations between them. This will help to achieve the learning outcomes for this
course.
