and the significant people around them as they make important career decisions as adolescents.

1. himself/herself during middle and late adolescence


2. the various aspects of holistic development: physiological, cognitive, psychological, spiritual, and social
development;
3. the skills and tasks and challenges appropriate for middle and late adolescence, and preparatory to
early adulthood;
4. the concepts about mental health and wellbeing particularly stress and coping strategies in middle and
late adolescence;
Content 5. brain parts, its processes and functions;
Standards 6. the different types of emotions and how they are expressed;
7. the dynamics of attraction, love, and commitment;
8. the concepts about social influence, group leadership and followership, the impact of one’s family on
his/her personal development during middle and late adolescence;
9. the concepts of career development, life goals, and personal factors influencing career choices and
external factors;
10. his/her personal development as an important component of setting career and life goals.

2. illustrate the connections between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors in a person’s holistic development;
3. make a list of ways to become responsible adolescents prepared for adult life and manage the demands

4. identify his/her own vulnerabilities and plan on how to stay mentally healthy while coping with stress;
5. identify ways to improve brain functions which will be manifested in thoughts, behavior and feelings;

6. identify ways to communicate and manage emotions in a healthy manner;

8. identify the firm and gentle sides of family care that affect a person’s development during middle and

Learning At the end of the semester, the students should be able to:

1. explain that knowing oneself can make a person accept his/her strengths and limitations and dealing
with others better;
2. share his/her unique characteristics with others better;
3. discuss the relationship among physiological, cognitive, psychological, spiritual, and social
development;
4. evaluate his or her own thoughts, feelings, and behaviors;
5. show the connections between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors in actual life situations;
6. discuss developmental tasks and challenges being experienced during adolescence;
7. evaluate one’s development through the help of significant people around him/her (peers, parents,
