Introduction:

Good day to everyone!

I am Angela, Grace, Valerie, Prinze, Andrianne, Princess, Kristel, Jermaine, Norminne

and we are the group 3! (lahat tayo dito)

:Are you guys ready to travel back in time and explore the world of the electronic age? Well
then, fasten your seatbelts and enjoy!

The electronic age began around the 1930s and ended in the 1980s. (Ehem, disco balls)
It is the period of transition from traditional industry to an economy based on information
computerization wherein computers are used to store information. During the electronic age,
communication became more efficient.

Mary grace:“oh pre andiyan ka na?” (pagkasabi ng communication be more efficient, may
daadaan sa harap ni angela tas sasabihin niya, oh, pree andiyan ka naaa tas magsisimula na
agad yung next)

(1930's) Prinze
“Suki bili na kayo!!!” That's the modern day technique of attracting customers but the 1930’s is
way different.
- Following the Great Depression, the market industry collapsed, and people became
starved and penniless. Most businesses want to make an effort by creating ads in the
form of posters that interest customers. Later, their attempts were considered as
unproductive and unnecessary. However, few businesses employed radio commercials,
which helped the industry recover and modernize its methods of presenting its products.
In short, modern advertisements were more helpful in terms of information dissemination
compared to the traditional ones. (now, let's move forward to the 1946)

1946 Andrianne
(shows the picture)
Transition: “no it's not a library ladies and gentlemen, it is an earlier version of computer”
- The Electronic Numerical Integrator Calculator was invented by John Mauchly and John
Presper Eckert on February 15, 1946. It was completed after World War 2 and was
considered as a Turing-complete ( it was named after Alan Turing, whose creation
helped the Allies win World War 2). It was designed primarily to compute values for
artillery range tables. It generally can solve a large class of numerical problems and
provide the needed information for decision making. Still, it lacked some characteristics
that would have made it a more general-purpose system. We are now going to proceed
to the year 1947.
in 1947 they invented the Transistor Radio Norminne
Transition: “Magandang Araw, mga kabaranggay you’re still tuning in sa 93.5 fm radio, so did
you know…” tas yung sa baba na rin sasabihin.
- The Transistor Radio was invented by scientists William Shockley, John Bardeen, and
Walter Brattain on December 23, 1947, at AT&T's Bell Laboratories.
- It is used as a basis for all modern technology, including telecommunications, data
communications, aviation, and audio and video recording equipment. It has also made a
significant advancement in information dissemination in the coverage of different social
topics.
- Let's move along with the next invention in the same year.

Kristel Transition: “At naku naman, diyos ko, accounting, calculator, anyway….

Let me share with you the Electronic Delay Storage Automatic Calculator
- The Electronic Delay Storage Automatic Calculator was invented by Maurice Wilke in
1947.
- The first calculation was made on May 6, 1949. It was designed to be a general-purpose
computer used by scientists, mathematicians, and engineers to conduct a wide range of
time-consuming operations. It was also a part of the Mathematical Laboratory’s support
service which is the key in communicating data about book-keeping calculations relevant
for decision making.

Jermaine Transition: oh diba, let’s be thankful that it was invented as it was one of the main
predecessors of modern day calculators and later on, personal computers and mobile phones

- Let's move forward to the OHP Projector.

I would like to introduce you to the OHP Projector (Overhead Projector)

Transition: “Project, project, project, wag kayong mag-alala, ibang project ito”
- It was invented by Roger Appledorn on January 1, 1950. It is used as pre-printed
teaching materials on plastic sheets that can be immediately written on by the educator
using a non-permanent, washable color marking pen. The overhead is normally situated
at a suitable writing height for the instructor and faces the class, which helps present the
given topics effectively in a room situation. It was an alternative for bigger screens
because modern day tv’s were non existent at its time. The OHP Projector was used for
entertainment, news, and education. And now let's move forward to the next invention.
1951 Princess

Transition: “Hindi po siya vaccine, computer po siya. UNIVAC po, hindi SINOVAC or
anything na tinuturok sayo”

Univac 1 or also known as Universal Automatic Computer was invented on March 31, 1951.
Invented by team of engineers led by J. Presper Eckert and John Mauchly. Throughout the
1950s, UNIVAC also played an important part in a number of monthly economic surveys. The
computer performed admirably when it came to the repetitious but difficult mathematics needed
in weighting and sampling for these surveys. It means that, at this certain period of time,
UNIVAC is still unable to solve large quantities compared to the modern day computers.
However, it still had a great contribution towards the improvement of succeeding computers that
are now relevant for information analysis.

1968 mary grace

Transition: bago dumako si neil armstrong and friends sa moon noong 1969, nainvent ni
hp, no po hindi po harry potter, ang modern day scientific calculator.

Hewlett-Packard 9100A was invented in 1968 by Hewlett Packard. The 9100A was the first
modern scientific calculator, capable of trigonometric, logarithmic (log/ln), and exponential
functions, and marked the beginning of Hewlett-long Packard's tradition of utilizing Reverse
Polish notation (RPN) entering on their calculators. This might look like just a simple calculator
for numbers but this has paved the way for modern calculators to interpret data. Then, this
interpreted data will become crucial pieces of information that are relevant for the users of data
numbers. An example would be the statistics about a country that are very significant in news
and information dissemination.
1971 mary grace

Floppy Disk that first introduced in 1971 and invented by IBM (which stands for international
Business Machines Corps.) engineers led by Alan Shugart. (opo, alan shugart, di na po natin
afford ang sugar) People were also able to load operating systems and other software programs
into their personal computers. Although it is very rarely used today, floppy disks paved the way
to innovations of modern storage medium such as hard drives. (yan na po yung ating mga
flashdrives and sd cards na nakakapagtago ng malalalim mong sikreto)

Flashdrives and cd’s are considered to be modern day floppy disks, even though they have
different sizes and shapes, these things work the same way.

1976 Valdez

Thank you sm, ms valencia!

Transition: Gaiz bakit nga ba may kagat yung logo ng apple? Well di ko rin alam sisihin
niyo si eva, matigas ang ulo niya e. Anyway.

Apple 1 was released on April 11, 1976. It was designed by Steve Wozniak and was pushed by
his friend, Steve Jobs, to sell and manufacture the said computer. It was first used in a high
school math class to showcase math symbols relevant for the class discussion. This apple
startup revolutionized mass communication that we know as of today, where the spread of
information transformed into a larger scale.

That was quite fast but let's just go ahead to

1979

Transition: mej bubudots kunwari tas,

did you know that back then, you cannot listen to music on your own because music
players came in big proportions and sizes, but thankfully
Walkman was released on July 1, 1979. This was invented by Nobutoshi Kihara. It produces
high-quality and compact music that people can listen to anywhere they want. Portable music
and media have come a long way all because of walkman. It opened the way for CD and DVD
players to satisfy people’s need for comfort when they’re listening to music.

Let's now wrap up. To give further information about the electronic age,

1. First, books were relevant at that point of time. Published articles and studies were the
basis of earlier research. (Valdez)
2. Second, It was the continuation of the Golden Era of Hollywood as film technology took
off and films were colorized and involved better techniques . (Prinze)
3. Third, A lot of prominent techie companies were built during the 70’s such as Microsoft.
Also, at this time, the Queen was dominating the radio waves and breaking records after
records. (Princess)
4. Fourth, The blueprint of video games was designed between 1950 to 1960 (Angela)
5. And, in 1980’s companies released game consoles and VHS or video home systems,
which also paved the way to the modern day streaming service. (Andrianne)

Now, to conclude: (ALL)

6. The evolution of media in the electronic age was vast given by the fact that it was a new
era. (Kristel)
7. Communication became easier. from sending letters, people relied heavily on sending
radio telegrams and calls. (Norminne)
8. Internet was non-existent at this time, thus, news from radios and tv programs were the
only source of infos and updates. (Jermaine)
9. In case you wonder, the electronic age is one of the prominent times that paved the way
to the digital era. Without these inventions, technological advancements that we have for
today will never exist. (Mary Grace)

Outro: Thank you so much for listening!

We are now ready for your questions.
