and society." (One sentence or phrase only for each term.)

Science: The systematic study of the physical world and its phenomena through
observation and experimentation.

Technology: The development and application of tools and processes aimed to aid
humans with the help of scientific studies; a manifestation of scientific triumphs.

Society: The summation of all people living together in a physical geographical area;
group of people with the same objectives, interactions, and culture.

STS: The relationship between how the systemic studies of the physical world and
thus the development of tools and processes from that affect the relationships of
people in a society and vice versa.

2. Please watch the lecture by Prof. Hasok Chang on “Who Cares About the History of
Science”, then answer the question "What is the most relevant function of the history of
science for you and why?" (1-3 sentences only. You may all agree or not in the group; it's ok.)

We think that the most relevant function of the history of science is to show the
progress that humans have made in the development of the body of knowledge and
the progress that can still be made. This shows the possibility of further growth, and
lapses that have been overcome in the past, showing how science can further grow.
Moreover, scientific history also exhibits the scientific philosophies applied at certain
time periods; reflecting principles behind scientific discoveries at the time. It also
adds a layer of context and appreciation to the one interested even if the concept is
generally considered outdated.
