6. Attacking

Attacking is a move when a chessman can capture the opponent’s chessman in the next move. It
is also called threatening.

In diagram 6.1, we can observe that the white Rook is standing on a1 and the black bishop is
standing on e6. In diagram 6.2, white Rook has moved to e1 (Rook can also move to a6) which is
performing an attack since Rook can capture Bishop in the next move.

In the diagram 6.3, we can observe that White Bishop is standing on d1 and the Black Knight is
standing on a8. In diagram 6.4 white Bishop has moved to f3 which is performing an attack since
Bishop can capture Knight in the next move.

Note: It is advised that attacking should be performed always from a safe square.
