Teeth cavity and gum

Problem suffering
Mohamed Adel / 21/7/2022
Executive Summary
Since our application is an Artificial Intelligence Application to detect tooth cavity
and gum problems using the camera of the mobile phones and the great
Algorithms trained by thousands of photos have these problems .
Checking if there is a Dental cavity in the teeth daily to detect early cavity start to appear in any tooth.

use ML/AI in solving this task by identify where is the cavities accurately (decision making) from the live/ recorded video or an image of a normal camera of mobile phone. ML/AI
use its vision and image detection algorithms on the model to draw box around the tooth which has cavity. its fast, reliable, easy to use every day (daily routines). That will help
to improve the detection of dental cavities for the users who use these AI/ML product and they are going to use it daily.

Key findings
-The color of the teeth can build a bias that there is a cavity while there isn’t also the low illumination inside the mouth of the dental patient cause the same bias. So the
application may fail to detect the cavity.

-Since its a health app so it need to be used daily and that is a high activity routine
Research Questions

-Number of users using the app daily

- feedbacks and comments from active dental cavity patients after visiting the dentists according to the AI app diagnoses using the
scale from 0 to 10 and case comment to describe his choice.
The main question to answer here did these AI app detect really the cavity in your teeth? Does your dentist agree with the diagnoses
of the app.?
Participants
Dentists and dental cavity patients in the Dental center which will provide us with
the photos used to train the model and algorithm of our app
Key finding #1
● The color of the teeth can build a bias that there is a cavity while there isn’t
also the low illumination inside the mouth of the dental patient cause the
same bias. So the application may fail to detect the cavity.

“The color of the teeth need to be taking in your account ,not

all the people have the same teeth color that may affect the
result of detecting a cavities “

Dentist 1 (participant 1)
Recommendation #1
● The data could be improved by training the dentists inside the participant
clinics whose collect the photos and videos of the mouth of the dental cavity
patient.
● Use the high-resolution cameras, and label photos and video for deferent
teeth colors
● We can mitigate unwanted bias in our model by
● Collecting different photos and videos for different teeth colors and for
different illuminations/light inside the mouth.
Key finding #2
The apps need to be used daily and that is a high activity routine.

“I have to use these app every day to detect the problem

Early“
Patient 2 (participant 2)
Recommendation #2
The app should be easily usage and should have a quick response to detect
cavity and gum problem
It is very common to send about 20% of your customers to a new model (v2, a
"challenger" model) and 80% to a well-tested model (v1, a "controlled" model).
This way, we can get some good experimental data and really see if the v2 of your
model does indeed work better; if it does, we can then switch all user traffic
(100%) to that new model. We can repeat this process as necessary, and as you
continually improve different versions of a model
That will help us to improve the performance of the model without losing our
customers
