Module Title: Gynecology

Module Duration: 7 Weeks ( Parallel with clinical Practice)
Module Description: This Module is designed for BSc Midwifery students to create
a learning opportunity on provision of a range of individualized, compassionate,
respectful and culturally sensitive care on the assessment of female reproductive
organ disorders, congenital problems, and abortion, gynecological tumors, and
sexually transmitted infections, benign and malignant disorders of the female genital
tract. This Module will be addressed through Interactive lecture, Seminar
presentations, Skill Development Lab (SDL) demonstration and supervised feed backs
in simulated environment and real hospital setup including: Gynecology OPD and
ward, abortion unit, cervical screening unit.
Module Objective
 At the end of this module, students will be able to provide gynecologic care and
comprehensive abortion care in a professional manner.
Module Competencies
 The core professional competencies where this practice Module aimed at
achieving are:
1. Provide comprehensive abortion care according to the national guidelines
2. Manage common gynecological problems
Module Policy
 Attendance: It is compulsory to attend 100% both theoretical, SDL and Hospital
clinical practice on time.
 If a student misses one or two classes/ practical session and come with justifiable
reason he/she shall repeat the number of days he/she missed.
 However, if she/he misses > three classes/ hospital attachment days during this
semester, they will not be allowed to final assessment and next semester even if
he/she brings proven evidence.
