Dear Parents,
DUKE OF EDINBURGH’S AWARD QUALIFYING ADVENTUROUS JOURNEY
This is to inform you that participants in the International Award for Young People in Nigeria
(DOE), will be undergoing the final qualifying journey (expedition and exploration) for silver
and bronze awards from Friday, 1st April to Sunday, 3rd April 2022.

VENUE: Avi-Cenna International School, Lekki Conservation Centre and Centre for
Management Development (CMD), Magodo
PARTICIPATION FEE: N63, 000
Payment covers all logistics and activities to be done at the Lekki Conservation Centre and
CMD. It also covers provision of T-shirt, hand sanitisers, nose masks, expedition skills, life-
saving skills, security/mobile policemen, health and emergency services, feeding, and other
camping equipment.
All payments must be received on or before Monday, 28th March 2022. Upon payment, students
are to pick up the clearance letter from the Accountant. All clearance of payment should be
submitted to the award supervisors.

in a personalised programme of activities.
The School fully supports the Award and recognises its unique value for developing skills and
positive attributes in young people.

Please take note of the following:


 Each participant must come along with a camp mattress (small 6 spring mattress).
 Participants are to pack minimal items, as only one (1) camp bag will be allowed.
 Mobile phones will not be allowed in the camp. If you want your child to have a
mobile phone, it should be given to the coordinator who will return it after the
camp.

 All Online Record Books must have been set up to 60% completion, to be eligible for
the qualifying journey. (This is being done in school).
Kindly find below the items each student will need to bring with them.
List of items to bring for the expedition
 Insecticide or Mosquito Repelling Cream
 Loose joggers (Comfortable for long walks)
 School P.E. wear for aerobics
 Comfortable walking sneakers
 Night wear
 Bed sheet/duvet/pillow and pillow case
 Sleeping mattress (6 spring) 6” X 2.5” X 4”
 Toiletries: bathing soap, sponge, cream, toothpaste, toothbrush, and deodorant
 1 towel
 3-day wears
 Medications (if your child/ward is on medication or has any medical condition,
kindly notify the coordinators)

Participants are not allowed to wear shorts or short outfits on camp.
