Dawgs taking tonight off

They were preparing for another non conference
game on the gridiron tonight. But, the Glasgow-
Roundup game has been canceled.
Roundup has a few players that are dealing with
illness so the Panthers are forfeiting the game tonight.
The Panthers list 23 players on their roster with seven
seniors. With a few players out it doesn’t leave the
Panthers many athletes to play an 11-man football
game.
Glasgow (3-1) will now prepare for its first
Northern B game against Cut Bank in a week. The
Dawgs will travel to Wolves Territory for the 7 p.m.
contest.
There has been a shakeup in the 406mtsports.com
Class B power poll. Top-ranked and defending state
champs Florence (3-0) continues to hold down the No.
1 spot after thumping Cut Bank 37-0. After that it was
a nine-team mess with No. 9 Manhattan whipping No.
2 Columbus 36-14, No. 3 Townsend demolished Three
Forks 35-6, No. 5 Jefferson took out No. 7 Whitehall
42-7, and ex-No. 9 Fairfield was whipped by No. 10
Eureka 34-16.
In Class C 6-man football Savage (3-0) is hot as
the Warriors has outscored their opponents 189-0 this
season. Up next for the Warriors is Wibaux on Sept.
24, maybe its fourth victim.
Coach John Jones and his Nashua Porcupines had
a few memorable games with Savage years ago. Nashua
beat the Warriors in a playoff game for the right to play
Columbus in a Class C playoff game. Columbus won
that game in 1975, 50-0. The Cougars went on to win
the state championship.
Two-time defending state AA champions
Missoula Sentinel continues to hold down the top spot
with a 3-0 record. Hamilton (3-0) is still ranked on top
in A.
Bigfork (2-0) moved into the second spot in Class
B, Townsend (2-1) follows, Huntley Project (3-0) is
fourth, Jefferson (2-1), Columbus (2-1), Three Forks
(2-1), Malta (2-1), Manhattan (2-1) and Eureka (2-1)
round out the top 10.
Flint Creek (3-0) holds down the No. 1 ranking
in 8-man football with Fairview (2-1) at No. 9 and
Culbertson (2-1) at No. 10.
Broadview-Lavina (3-0) edged Bridger 2-1) 37-34
to take over the top spot in 6-man football. Savage is
fifth and Jordan eighth.

Origin of Constitution Week
Louisville, Ohio, calls itself “Constitution Town”,
and credits one of its own for getting the holiday
national recognition.
In 1952, resident Olga T. Weber petitioned
municipal officials to establish Constitution Day, in
honor of the creation of the US Constitution in 1787.
Mayor Gerald A. Romary proclaimed September 17,
1952, as Constitution Day in the city. The following
April, Weber requested that the Ohio General Assembly
proclaim September 17 as statewide Constitution Day.
Her request was signed into law by Governor Frank J.
Lausche. In August 1953, she took her case to the United
States Senate, which passed a resolution designating
September 17–23 as Constitution Week. The Senate and
House approved her request and it was signed into law
by President Dwight D. Eisenhower.
On April 15, 1957, the City Council of Louisville
declared the city Constitution Town. The Ohio State
Archaeological and Historical Society later donated four
historical markers, located at the four main entrances
to the city, explaining Louisville’s role as originator of
Constitution Day.

Neighborhood Not Operating a Leaf Blower

MARTHA’S VINEYARD, MA — Residents of
