WORKSHOP THEORY AND PRACTICE

(MEFC 103)

 COURSE DESCRIPTION

This course is intended to provide the student a strong foundation and

skills on the basic metal works processes and operations necessary for
advancement in the mechanical trades. It includes the following safety,
metrology, blueprint drawing, bench and hand tools, bench metalwork, sheet
metal work, and basic welding. At the end of the course, the student is
expected to be a general metal worker, bench worker, and welder.

OUTCOMES
Upon successful completion of this course, the students will be able to:
1. Practice Occupational Health and Safety
2. Practice Total Preventive Maintenance (TPM) and 5'S
3. Perform Four Fundamental Operations
4. Convert English to Metric Measurement and Vice Versa
5. Perform Basic Ratio and Proportion, Area and Volume Calculation
6. Perform Metrology: Measurement Instruments & Tools
7. Identify Standard Alphabet of lines
8. Interpret Standard Drawing Symbol
9. Layout and Mark Dimension on Workpiece
10. Select and Classify Hand Tools and Equipment
11. Use Hand Tools and Equipment
12. Maintain Hand Tools
13. Learn Forming Sheetmetal Process
14. Learn Roll-Bending Sheetmetal and Plate
15. Learn Flow Forming Sheetmetal
16. Prepare Welding Safety and Equipment
17. Setting-Up Welding Equipment and Accessories
18. Strike and Establishing an Arc
19. Run a Bead with the Whipping Technique

 COURSE REQUIREMENTS

1. Complete the various activities in the given module.

2. Submit on time the activities required for each module.
3. Take and pass the required term examination

Mid-Term
Class Standing: 60% (Learning Activities, Summative Test)
Midterm Test: 40%

Final Term
Class Standing: 60% (Learning Activities, Summative Test)
Final Term Test: 40%
