A practical guide on the Project Report

At the end of the session, the participant would gain knowledge on:

 The project report and evaluation


 Specification for the project report
 The structure of the project report
1 Objective
The key objective of the project report is to engage the students in a practical, real-world
environment to experience classroom learning in industry setup.

1.1 Selection of the organization


1) Before selecting the organization, the students should decide the key result areas of HR to
be included, data collection methods, time taken for the study, etc., as those will be key
factors to be considered in getting approval from the management.
2) A medium-scale organization with a separate HR department or personnel department for
the human resource/personnel management function (the students may use their personnel
contacts in selecting an organization)
3) However, the student does not need to declare the real name of the organization. Instead,
students are permitted to use any acronym like “CBD Co”.
4) Any other setup that does not meet the above criteria specified in 1 above is not
recommended in carrying out the study.
5) After the student has decided to select a particular organization, he/she should tentatively
negotiate with the selected organization’s management. The student should obtain formal
consent from the organization’s management to continue the study.
6) Obtain a recommendation letter from the Director of Professional and Academic Affairs
/Manager Examination of CIPM or his/her nominee. This letter is to be forwarded to the
selected organization (if so desired by the organization). Where the regional centres are
concerned, it will be facilitated by the respective centre managers.

1.2 The project assignment and evaluation


The completed Project Report need to be uploaded to CIPM LMS on or before the deadline.

1.2.1 The Project Report (100 marks)


The student is expected to visit the selected organization and study at least five (05) areas of
human resources management. The project report should contain 2,000 words (approximately
ten pages) and deviation up to ±10% is allowed. Word count should be declared at the end of
the report after the list of references.
Marks allocated for the report - 100 marks.

Students are required to cover at least 05 of the following areas for the project report:

 Introduction to Personal /HR Management


 Fundamentals of Job Analysis
 Workforce Planning
 Recruitment, Selection, Induction & Placement
 Contract of Employment
 Introduction to Rewards Management
 Health & Safety
 Introduction to Employee Relations
 Professionalism and Ethics
 Understanding Organizations and Business
 Essentials Elements of Leadership
 Learning and Development Fundamentals
 Business Etiquette and Personal Branding
 Introduction to Performance Management
 Introduction to Digitalization
 Fundamentals of Change Management

1.2.2 Specification for the project report


1) Cover page – as specified in the annexure
2) Font – Times New Roman
3) Font size – 12 for the text of the body, 16 bold for the topics
4) Line space – 1.5
5) Margins – Left 1.5’, right 1’, top 1’, bottom 1.’
6) Upload the completed work into the CIPM LMS

Note: Above approximate number of pages is excluding graphs, charts, pictures, etc.

The report submission date will be communicated well in advanced. Accordingly, you will be
able to submit the completed Project Report to the CIPM LMS.

You will be able to submit the excuse forms if you are unable to submit the Project Report due
to unavoidable circumstances.

It is advisable to avoid excuses as far as possible as the practice will cause administrative
problems and delay in releasing results.
