In cab and air brakes

1, Seat belt is securely fastened not cut torn worn or frayed latches and unlatches properly.

2, Safe start, foot on the clutch, shifter in neutral, press the hard wall and the soft wall. Make sure the
brakes are set, turn the key on. My ABS light works, start truck.

3, Emergency equipment, I have a 5bc rating fire extinguisher fully charged and secured. I have 3
reflective triangles in the driver’s box. I have spare fuses under the passenger’s seat.

4, Mirrors are secure, clean, free from obstructions and adjusted for me from the inside.

5, Windshield is secure, free from obstructions illegal stickers and damage.

6, Windshield wipers, arms and blades are secure and not damaged and work properly as does my
washer fluid.

7, Turn on headlights. Left turn signal indicator works. Right turn signal indicator works. 4way flasher
indicator works. Hi/lo beam indicator works.

8, Oil pressure and temp gauges are within normal operating ranges.

9, Volt shows that my alternator is charging.

10, My primary and secondary air gauges are working. I will build air to governor shut off of 120 to 140
psi to test them.

11, Heater and defroster both work. FEEL ENTS AND DASH VENT

12, City horn works (BEEP) and my highway horn works (HONK)

13, I will now build my air to governor shut off 120 to 140 psi and perform my parking brake check……
(wait a few seconds looking at the gauges)……. I am now at governor shut off 120 to 140 psi.

14, Red valve in yellow valve out, tug test. (truck in low gear ease off clutch and pull against the brakes).

15, Yellow valve in red valve out, tug test. (truck in low gear ease off clutch and pull against the brakes).

16, My parking brakes do work, I will now build my air back up to governor shut off 120 to 140 psi And
test my air brakes, (wait a few seconds) I am now at governor shutoff. With both feet on the floor turn
the truck off and switch the key back to the on position and let the truck settle down.

17, I will now apply my service brake I should lose no more than 4psi in 60 seconds. (time 60 Sec).

18, I will now pump- my brakes down to 60 psi where my low pressure warning light and/or buzzer
should come on.

19, I will now pump my brakes down to 20/40 psi where both air valves should pop out. That concludes
my air brake check.
20, I will now perform my service brake check. (Explain…don’t perform) I would pull forward at 5mph
and apply my brakes holding the wheel loosely, I am checking to see that my truck stops when the
brakes are applied and does not pull to either side.

21, That concludes my in cab inspection I will build my air to governor shut off 120 to 140 psi and switch
the truck off.

22, ask instructor to help check the exterior lights.
