The Golden Rams Society (GRS)

The Golden Rams Society is a group of up to 30 highly motivated, dedicated and successful students who have been
selected by the WCU Foundation for recommendation to the President of West Chester University to represent the
student body to various external constituencies.

Mission & Benefits of the Golden Rams Society:

To educate current WCU students about the WCU Foundation and Alumni Association’s mission to generate
resources to support student needs and the University’s future growth. The Golden Rams Society will also work to
encourage WCU students to become involved with Foundation and Alumni Association programs and activities; and
to educate current students about the importance of being active alumni and donors in the future.

Golden Rams Society (GRS) Members will gain valuable experience in marketing, program planning, networking
and managing projects. In addition, GRS members will be recognized participants among the faculty, staff and
alumni constituencies. Most importantly, GRS members will have the opportunity to network with some of WCU’s
most distinguished and successful alumni, corporate leaders, and friends of WCU.

All Golden Rams Society Members will receive a $250 award for every 20 hours of service for their work and
commitment to the WCU Foundation, WCU Alumni Association and the University.

Golden Rams Society Member Requirements:


 Must attend/staff a minimum of two presidential events per calendar year:
President’s Gala President’s Corporate Reception
President’s Dinner President’s Gold Box Football Game

 Must complete an amount of hours set at the first meeting that is determined by the amount of events in the
semester. If the member does not fulfill this requirement, they will be put on probation for the following
semester. If the member does not complete the required hours during their semester on probation, they will
be terminated from GRS.

 Must help to plan, organize, promote and conduct the Annual WCU Student Giving Program

 Use and help manage social networking tools and marketing resources to reach out to WCU students and
promote the Golden Rams Society, the WCU Foundation and Alumni Association

 Must work with (or organize) student groups to attend and participate in events and programs for the WCU
Foundation or WCU Alumni Association

 Must be available to give campus tours to WCU Trustees, alumni, donors and others as requested

 Must remain in good academic and disciplinary standing while at WCU and complete the minimum number
of GRS service hours for that semester. This number is decided upon at the beginning of each semester
based on the number of events that require GRS staffing

 Must be willing to provide a personal testimonial if requested

 Serve as a liaison between the students and the WCU Foundation and the WCU Alumni Association

 Participate in training/orientation session(s) to learn more about WCU history, facts, latest news and events.

INSTRUCTIONS

1. Complete the attached application and the essay statement. Please type all the information
requested.

2. Return the completed application form with the essay statement to the WCU Alumni and
Foundation Center at 202 Carter Drive. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
Applications for this semester will not be accepted after Friday, November 11th.

3. Attend the optional Information Session on Thursday, November 3rd at 7:30 pm to learn more
about Golden Rams Society and to meet current members. Email Vivian Greene (President)
at VG791514@wcupa.edu to RSVP and to find out event details.

4. Questions pertaining to this application should be directed to the Assistant Director of


Development – Annual Giving, WCU Foundation by emailing
mcallanan@wcufoundation.org or calling 610-430-4158.

5. Please note that your application will not be considered if the information is not completed
correctly and accurately on the application.

6. All applicants must list the names and contact information for two references. One WCU
reference (instructor, counselor, advisor, staff member, etc.) and one non-WCU (community)
reference.

7. If selected for an interview, interviews will be held on November 15th, 16th, 17th and 18th.
Please state the days and times you are available on your application.

8. Applications will be reviewed and presented to the President for selection. At the end of the
fall semester, new 2016 Golden Rams Society members will attend an induction ceremony
acknowledging their entry into the program.

9. If you are selected, the induction ceremony will be held on Friday, December 2, 2016 at
10:00 AM. More details to follow.

10. Applications received after November 11 will be reviewed and presented to the President for
selection monthly.

ESSAY STATEMENT
