MANICURE AND PEDICURE

I. Materials
 Consumables:
 Orange wood stick
 Nail polish remover or acetone
 Cuticle softener
 Cotton
 Cuticle oil
 Lotion
 Nail polish (base coat & top coat)
 Antiseptic solution (betadine or hydrogen peroxide)
 Tools:
 Nail brush
 Nipper
 Pusher
 Nail file or emery board
 Nail cutter ( small and big)
 Towel
 Toe nail separator
 Buffer
 Soaking bowl
II. Procedure
1. Analyze client’s nails, ask the client what nail shape is desired.
2. Prepare the soaking bowl with warm water.
3. Trim and file the nails on one hand then soak, do the same thing on the other hand.
4. Put cuticle remover on nails, push the cuticles on a downward stroke then cut the cuticles and dead skin
using a nipper.
5. Buff the nails to even out, smooth and shine the nails.
6. Dip the nails into the soaking bowl and brush it to remove the chemicals placed on the nails.
7. Apply base coat first and then the desired nail polish color (2 coats) and top it with a clear top coat.
8. Use the lotion to massage the hands.

KEY POINTS

 Always start with the pinky finger.


 Duration: 20-30 minutes
 Do not scrub the nail, just push the cuticles.
 When applying nail polish hold the nail with your thumb and index finger and hold the nail polish bottle with the
middle, ring and pinky finger.
 Apply nail polish starting at the center then to the sides and even out the nail polish. ( 4 strokes )
 File the nails in one direction only.
