1. Osgood-Schramm Model of Communication- Encoding and decoding are not automatic processes
both go through the filter of the interpreter. therefore, the message may succeed or fail, based on the
interpreter’s appreciation of the message.

Berlo’s Communication Model- also called SMCR which stans for sender of the message, sent through a
channel or medium to a receiver.

Also there are Aristotle's Model, Lasswell's Model.

The models of communication are introduced for us to understand how to communication process,
knowing the flow of will make the communication more effective.

2. By providing concise and disclosing vital information. Not hiding or concealing information necessary
for transparency.

3. Because it gives us guidance on how to be a good speaker and also it make it easier for leaders to
develop an effective code of conduct among his constituents.

4. The field of experience of the encoder and decoder which is the individual’s belief’s, values,
experiences gives a different meaning to the message trasmitted through signal by the source.

After watching the speech of the Former President Rodrigo Roa Duterte, I think that some effective oral
communication is followed while some not. The completeness of the message was followed as he gave
clear and detailed information about the topic he was discussing, just like the effect and preventive
measures against the covid 19 pandemic. He is also concise about the topic being discussed by focusing
on one topic and onto the next. However, he wasn't able to deliver his message naturally. There were
some mannerisms that he wasn't able to avoid, like stuttering and speaking in the Visaya language which
some of the listeners did not understand. He does not provide a specific time that indicates the
significant events that he mentioned in his speech. If possible, he should not stutter while speaking and
avoid talking in vinocular words during speech.

1. It is the common language or mode of communication that enables people to understand one
another regardless of their cultural and ethnical backgrounds.

2. Church- to proliferate the christian religion, English was used as the common language in translating
the Bible one of which is the King James Bible of 1611.

Colonialism- As the European nation, one of which is Great Britain, began their conquest of the world it
led to the spread of English in U.S.A, Canada and Australia.

War- After World War U.S.A became the most powerful nation that led the dollar to become the reserve
currency and english as the world language.

3. English is one of the official languages of the Philippines. It is used in business, law, education, etc. As
a student it is integral in our study to learn how to speak, write and read english for our future career
progression.
