Youth Unemployment

facts
75 million young people are trained very well but have no job.
Almost 90% of all young people live in developing countries making many
countries having young unemployed people.
Young people who are 15-24 year olds are looking for jobs but they can’t find any
due to the problems in the world right now. Finding jobs are now much harder for
young people as there is covid-19 there are too many restrictions causing people
to remain jobless.
People’s skills are not matching with the job they get sometimes. The young’s are
ready to work and get a job but the businesses need the skills which the young
people don’t have.
Young people who have studied very well and have advanced degrees find
themselves overqualified for their jobs. Many young people are also
underemployed, meaning they work for fewer hours than they prefer. Young
people are also not being allowed to work to their full potential.
There are many reasons of people being unemployed. One of the most common
reason is that individuals are not getting jobs which are related to their skills. Even
though the young are capable and have experience, businesses need expertise
which the people don’t have. Another cause of unemployment is over
qualification, which means that there are many candidates in this world who have
studied very well and have advanced degrees but they are underpaid. Sometimes
the young are not allowed to work to their full potentials and they get to work for
much fewer hours than they would prefer. Furthermore more, technological
changes are a huge problem for many beginners as they are new to technology
changes. Robotization, digitalization and artificial intelligence are taking over man
power. This means it’s a race between machines and humans. Last but not the
least, there are structural changes in economy which also adds to unemployment.
For example, if employees create something which is out of fashion or which is no
longer trending they have a risk of losing their position causing structural
unemployment.
There are consequences of being unemployed at a young age. These causes may
have negative effects in jobs, careers and future earnings. Finding employments
are also much harder now as covid-19 has many restrictions on the world at this
moment. Due to unemployment, there are multiple effects that can be seen on
the forefront. Such as reduced income, leading to various problems like difficulty
in supporting healthy living, creating conflict between families, dissatisfaction,
poor health and deterioration in mental health.
In countries that are still developing like Pakistan, unemployment is the key to
many problems and discontent in life. The education system in Pakistan is very
poor as well. It is not improved in times when needed and there are some
colleges that are training students but it isn’t upgrading to the international level.
Another cause is the lack of investment in education, health and
infrastructure of the country. Pakistan has less industrial growth among the
developing countries because of the shortage of power and electricity in the
country and trained people who are looking for jobs. Hence, the rate
unemployment is high in Pakistan
In conclusion, there are various causes of unemployment all over the world.
The main causes are unskilled people, increase in population, technology
and structural changes. Thus, many people are effected by unemployment
and this should be addressed around the world.
