BUSINESS PLAN: VEVI VENDING MACHINES 3

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

VeVi was created by Senior High School students to provide modern living as well as

good accessibility to foods and beverages. Vending and Viand were combined to form VeVi.

The first issue that arose was a lack of time in preparing foods. The idea of using vending

machines came from convenience stores in their vicinity. To make it more exciting, the menu

includes Filipino favorites derived from recipes passed down from family members. You may

now experience Filipino cuisine with easy accessibility in just 3-5 minutes in the microwave. The

company expects to be the Philippines' largest and best-selling supplier and retailer of fresh,

pre-made food that provides modern convenience and quick access to foods and beverages.

MANAGEMENT AND ORGANIZATION

Company Name

The initial product plan, an instant meal vending machine, inspired the creation of the

company's name. Several names were suggested, but the name "VeVi" was chosen by all of the

group members. The name "VeVi" was inspired by the first two letters of Vending and Viand,

which can be easily remembered by consumers. We decided to create a pre-made Filipino

foods and drinks vending machine after noticing that there are few to no vending machines in

the Philippines.

Logo

The product itself is displayed by the logo. The pre-made Filipino foods are represented

on the left side of the logo, the vending machine is represented on the right side of the logo, and

the company name is showcased beneath the logo. It desires to serve our favorite Filipino

dishes and beverages in a flash!

PRODUCT PLAN

Purpose of the Product

The vending machines make it easier for the consumers to get soft drinks and fast food.

The machines also promote health at schools and offices thereby allowing the students and

staff to get nourishing food machines installed in public areas like shopping malls, theaters, etc.

Other than these, vending machines serve many other purposes. They can even be used to sell

hygiene stuff at per se commercial places.

Product Unique Features

VeVi Vending Machines has several unique and innovative features that can satisfy its

customers' wants and needs. Functionality-wise, our vending machines are composed of

different parts that differentiate them from their competitors. First, the vending machine has a

200-item capacity that enables it to store many unique meals and drinks. Second, our machine

has its temperature regulator, a built-in freezer, that stores and keeps the meals and drinks at

low temperature and free from spoilage. Third, the machine includes LED lights and a large

product display window to properly showcase our products inside. Fourth, it is structured with a

spiral dispensing system with is controlled by the smart monitor. Its coils turn once the customer

has inserted the money and has entered his/her selection. Fifth, our machine is embedded with

payment system versatility which allows customers to choose between 3 payment options,

cashless transactions (GCash, Credit/Debit Card), bill payments, and coin inserts. Sixth, our

vending machine is customized and integrated with microwave heating technology. Its function

is to heat the chilled pre-made meals for the customers to enjoy their favorite Filipino dishes

within 5-10 minutes. Speaking of Filipino dishes, our machine serves 8 different Filipino favorite

dishes, pre-made by cooking experts. Also, we offer retailed drinks and beverages like water,

milk, juice, and soda. Lastly, our product meals are packaged in an eco-friendly way. Our food
BUSINESS PLAN: VEVI VENDING MACHINES 10

packaging is made of 100% paper-based containers and our beverages are stored in recyclable

PET bottles.

Production Process

To create our vending machine with a built-in microwave, we will need some engineers

to do it for us. These engineers will serve us as our human resource in the process of

production. Galvanized steel, Lexan or other plastic, acrylic powder coatings, and polyurethane

insulation are the most common raw materials used in vending machines. The majority of the

machine is made of galvanized steel with thicknesses ranging from 10 to 22 gauge. The outside

cabinet, external doors, and internal tank are made of thicker gauges. Internal doors and plates

can stack, and mechanisms such as coin validators and product trays are made of thinner

gauges. The front panels of the vending machine are made of Lexan, a tough polycarbonate

plastic. The thickness of Lexan sheets in vending machines typically ranges from 0.13 in (3.18

mm) to 0.25 in (6.35 mm). Lexan is extremely hard to break, flame resistant, and relatively easy

to shape, and it can be treated to block UV rays, light, and heat transmission. On Lexan sheets,

product logos, names, and illustrations are silk-screened and installed in channels in the

vending machine doors. Acrylic powder coatings are colored powders that are used to "paint"

vending machine surfaces. During the manufacturing process, the powder is applied in a

uniform layer and baked on. Acrylic coatings are more resistant to the elements and abuse than

wet-applied paints. Furthermore, acrylic powders are more easily compliant with government

environmental regulations. The inside of the vending machine is insulated with polyurethane

foam. The foam is blown between the machine's outer cabinet and internal tank, where it cures

into a tough, rigid substance. The stiff foam adds structural stability to the machine's cabinet

and tank in addition to thermal insulation.

Next is the microwave. The cover or outer case of the microwave oven is usually a one-

piece, wrap-around metal enclosure. A one-piece, wrap-around metal enclosure serves as the
BUSINESS PLAN: VEVI VENDING MACHINES 11

microwave oven’s cover or outer case. Inside the oven, galvanized or stainless-steel panels and

doors are coated with acrylic enamel, which is usually light in color to allow for easy visibility.

Ceramic or glass is commonly used for the cooking surface. Timer motors, switches, and relays

are among the electromechanical components and controls in the oven. The magnetron tube,

waveguide, and stirrer fan, all of which are metal, are also found inside the oven. Metal and

plastic parts such as gears, pulleys, belts, nuts, screws, washers, and cables make up the

hardware that connects the various components.

There are some ready-to-eat meals in our vending machine. Food nutritionists and food

technologists prepare these meals. Fresh, frozen, and dried raw materials are used to make

ready-to-eat hot and cold prepared meals. Dairy products, fish and prawns, chicken, turkey,

beef, lamb, bacon, and pork are among the ingredients used in the recipes. On-site allergens

are used, but they are strictly monitored. Ingredients are sourced from approved vendors

around the world. All cooked prepared meals are pasteurized and then blast chilled before being

stored and distributed chilled. The shelf life of the products is determined by the storage and

use conditions that are prescribed, and it is verified during production trials and microbiologically

confirmed. Foil and CPET (crystalline polyethylene terephthalate) microwavable food trays are

used as appropriate food-grade packaging. Ingredient breakdowns, nutritional information,

allergen information, heating and storage instructions, and shelf-life information are all included

on all packaging.

Coca-Cola, Wilkins, Zest-o, and a variety of other companies provide the beverages.

We'll make a contract with various businesses so that the materials inside the vending machine

are complete and there are no complaints from the customers.

BUSINESS PLAN: VEVI VENDING MACHINES 12

Distribution Logistics

Our company aims to transport our product with direct distribution. We will be able to

ensure that our product is transported safely in this manner. Furthermore, if we go with direct

distribution, we will save some expenses.

The vending machine will be transported inside a container, while the ready-to-eat meals

and drinks will be transported inside a refrigerated truck. The container will be transported in a

12-wheeler truck. Every vending machine, food, and drink will be transported from our company

to the marketplace using a 12-wheeler truck and a refrigerated truck. The trucks are driven by

professional drivers who are accompanied by a company employee who ensures that the

products are delivered on time and that the products are audited so that the quantity is kept

track of.

Delivery will be made every day. When the delivery arrives, every meal that is left in the

vending machine must be disposed of and replaced with a new set of our products. This is the

cycle of our product transportation.

Regulatory and Compliance Issues

The VeVi Vending Machine will be registered with the Securities and Exchange

Commission (SEC) as a partnership enterprise. The company will also obtain a license from the

Department of Consumer Protection (DCP) for the vending machines to operate. Regulations

from the Department of Public Health (DPH) and DCP will be observed and met by the

company. Before applying for a Mayor's permit to operate in the City of San Pedro, the

company will first obtain a Barangay clearance. After receiving the required registration

documents and permits from the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Barangay, and

Mayor's Office, the BIR registration will be completed. The owners and staff will be registered

with the Social Security System (SSS). Additionally, owners and employees should register with
BUSINESS PLAN: VEVI VENDING MACHINES 13

the Home Development Mutual Fund (HDMF), the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation

(PhilHealth), and the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).

MARKET PLAN

Marketing Strategy

Since we will only be deploying our vending machines, the marketing for our product will

mostly be from word of mouth. We need to place our vending machines in high visibility areas

and put some signs, posters, or stickers to indicate that one of our vending machines is near.

The posters or stickers could show the available item(s) too. The vending machines, food

packaging, signs, posters, and stickers must be eye-catching and recognizable. However, these

small posters can only reach so many people. And so, to save cost while also maximizing our
BUSINESS PLAN: VEVI VENDING MACHINES 14

potential buyers, we will also use the power of social media to increase the number of potential

customers and gather feedback, suggestions, and maybe even some investors.

Sales Strategy

Our key targets will concentrate on greatly acknowledged suppliers, manufacturers, and

even retailers since strategic partnering will be applied. In addition, we will make sure that there

is the contact information of our company on the vending machines to gather feedback and to

interest potential investors. Suggestions from customers will be considered as a source of

information to generate new product collaboration and ideas. In regards to our product’s

placement, vending machines will be strategically positioned both in busy areas, as well as quiet

areas with the intention of it being conveniently accessible food that people can have.

Particularly, nearby working places, schools, health-related infrastructures, and public

transportation, including certain streets.

Product Characteristics

VeVi’s properties are noteworthy. First, compatibility is not limited to any demographic at

all. It is a handy budget-friendly food available to anyone regardless of race, age, gender,

occupation, and even cultural background to some extent. VeVi substantially provides greater

food storage, not to mention, the selections as well unlike any other vending machine here in

the Philippines. It offers a wide variety of 8 local favorite dishes and common retailed

beverages. Furthermore, it has always been a habit of Filipinos to eat warm and hot meals

throughout the day. With VeVi, people can have an adequate amount of meals plus have them

served at their desired temperature using the integrated microwave. This marks its second

major trait, relative advantage, at a high degree since it is fairly adaptable to the Filipino

masses. Third, operating our vending machine is simple and easy. It will not involve relatively

complex systems that will confuse since it is merely two of the most used contraptions fused.
BUSINESS PLAN: VEVI VENDING MACHINES 15

Fourth, prices are reasonable and inexpensive. Lastly, the communicability of this product will

not be a challenge. People use vending machines and microwaves quite frequently, the

demonstration and description of this product are already self-explanatory, and further

elaboration will not be necessary. On top of that, the idea of having Filipino favorites, let alone

meals in vending machines is still a relatively new concept to have in the Philippines.

Pricing Policy

The base price for each product is set based on their cost plus the optional microwave

heating fee. Below is the table that provides the different prices of each respective product.

Market Analysis Summary

According to several studies conducted, consuming an adequate amount of food and

eating on time plays a vital role in a person's level of performance. People who have a history of

continuous substandard food consumption practice were shown to have difficulties

concentrating, lower functional performance, and a poor state of health. While people who

constantly eat on time and consume a sufficient amount of food were shown to be attentive,

have excellent psychosocial well-being, and have decent muscle growth and repair. With this,

many have tried to make getting meals accessible and affordable. But somehow had trouble

regarding the issue of applying a high amount of artificial preservatives to their food content, or

rather, their meals lacked the familiarity or taste for their customers. To contribute a solution to

this problem and contend with what is in the market, we will release a diverse collection of

authentic Filipino foods that will be sold through a vending machine. VeVi will provide meals that

are accessible and affordable.

Aside from this, the consumers will also have an option to microwave the items they

purchase to attain the warm temperature they would want. In the first year of launching, the

company's target market will be the students, teachers, and employees of Pacita Complex

Senior High School in San Pedro, Laguna. The business will be introduced to them by

associating with the school's higher-ups. The company will guarantee that they will purchase

easily attainable meals that are flavorful and have reasonable prices. The price range of the

foods will run around 25 - 50 pesos, the bottled beverages will be 20 pesos, and the usage of

the microwave will cost 5 pesos. Additionally, once the business has started to gain adequate

progress, funds, and popularity, we will begin expanding the business by purchasing more

vending machines and will connect with other community resources organizations. The

company will also consider some changes or development on the menu to satisfy potential

future customers' demands.

HISTORICAL ANALYSIS

VeVi was created from the initiative and resourcefulness of a group of senior high school

students. The first problem that struck them was: “With the lack of time to prepare food, in what

way can we get it prepared in just a short period and reachable within the campus?” Vending

machines came to mind along with the pre-made meals from convenience stores in their vicinity.
BUSINESS PLAN: VEVI VENDING MACHINES 23

Combining it, VeVi was born from vending and viand. In creating the menu, they wanted to bring

Filipinos’ favorite meals to their office, school, or transportation stations. The taste of home or as

we call it “lutong-bahay”, is carefully made, and ingredients are handpicked from each of the

member’s family’s passed down recipes. From Aisha Paiso’s Pancit to Christine Mallorca’s

Adobo, VeVi is an integration of different Filipino families with their specific recipes for their

cuisine. The initial idea was to spread Filipino cuisine and make it more accessible to the public

with a short waiting time as these recipes tend to be cooked longer than an hour. Now, they

made it possible within a 3 to 5 minute microwave time. Food born from the houses of senior

high school students, you can now taste it too. From our house to yours, VeVi is for everyone.
