Septrin DS 1*2*5 The active ingredient of the drug is

Trimethoprim 160 mg +sulfamethoxazole

800 mg
(The patient has uncomplicated UIT)

When we counselling the patient we discover that he has G6PD deficiency.

Justification :

Administration of this medication for patient with G6PD deficiency should be avoided
because it can cause clinically significant haemolysis (break red blood cell) with symptoms:
anemia , jaundice ,fatigue , pale .

For that we should switch to another type of anti-biotic safe for the patient.

Recommendation

After preparing the information that I have to provide for the physician I have to call
physician and introduce myself and provide the physician with purpose of the call

I have describe the DTP in polite manner and recommendation will be :

Cefuroxime 250 tab every 12 hour for 7 -10 day
