SELECTION YAG, CPL or Q-SWITCH HANDPIECE

It is strictly prohibited change handpiece with unit powered. Before changing a handpiece switch off the
unit
1. After selecting the type of handpiece, leads to the next screen where you can select, based on the
handpiece connected, types of treatment and skin type settings.
2. Then a screen alerts the operator to wear protective goggles (for all handpieces):

3. Select "Proceed" to access to the pre-operative page ( which change based on the handpieces), where you can
set the output parameters. When you access this page , the lamp turns on ( for all handpieces except the
diode):

- Pulse length for DIODE, YAG and CPL handpieces, this parameter is fixed for Q-SWITCH;
- Frequency (number of pulses per second);
- Spot size or cut-off filter where requested.

5. Press “START” to access to the operating page (which change based on the handpieces).
In this modality, the red LED on the body lights up and pressing the button on the handpiece or the pedal,

DIODE HANDPIECE SELECTION

The DIODE function differs from what described above, because when selected, it appears at first the following
screen:

19 °C

On the bottom left of the screen, it shows the temperature of the diode water circuit; this screen persists until
such temperature drops to 18 ° C. On reaching the optimum water temperature, it can proceed in a similar
way to the other handpieces with selection treatment, photo type etc.

4.1.1. Alarms

The lamp (or diode) has reached the maximum number of pulses and
must be replaced.
The expected number of pulses is equal to 50,000 for a CPL lamp,
500,000 for a Nd:YAG, Cr:YAG and erbium lamp, 20,000,000 for a diode.
When this page appears, the device is locked and can no longer work.

The water inside the hydraulic circuit is not circulating.

Immediately turn off the device and check the water circuit (tank level,
connections, leaks, pump function).
When this page appears, the device is locked and can no longer work.

The lamp is not on.

This type of alarm comes from the simmer board. First, you must check
the connections on the lamp and on easy-plug connector, then check the
simmer board.

The remote door lock system is disconnected or disabled.

This type of alarm is triggered if the outside lock is not closed.
Check that back of the plug is properly inserted, or if the contact
(connected to door) is closed.
When this page appears, the device is locked and can no longer work.

The temperature on the diode water circuit is too high.

This type of alarm comes when the water temperature on the diode
water circuit reaches values of danger to the functionality of the diode.
Make sure there are no air bubbles in the diode water circuit and make
sure the water temperature falls to the values established when it emits.

The temperature on the water circuit is high, it is recommended to

reduce the frequency of application to allow the diode to cool down.
This message appears when the water temperature on the diode circuit
reaches high values even if acceptable to the functionality of the diode.
Briefly interrupt the emissions or at least reduce the frequency of
applications. When the message appears, however the device continues
to operate. The worsening of the temperature leads to the alarm screen
temperature described above.
OVERHEAT! REDUCE FREQUENCY

The right (lamp) handpiece is not recognized.

This message appears when the lamp handpiece is not well inserted or
there’s a damage on pin connectors.
Switch off the unit and check lamp connector on both sides (unit and
handpiece).
As one handpiece is not recognized, water pump will be stopped
immediately, and an additional alarm “check water flow” will follow in a
few seconds.

6.2.5. Water filling in the diode cooling circuit standing version

The Xlase Plus is equipped with two different cooling circuits. Both circuits can be filled
with distilled water by accessing the handpiece output.
The diode handpiece is dispatched from Biotec Italia without water.

Procedure:
1. Disconnect the DIODE handpiece by pressing the release button.
2. Take the water refilling kit (see pict.3) and proceed with the following connections (see pict. 4):
a) The device joint O (OUT) together with the refilling plastic bottle IN joint.
b) The refilling plastic bottle OUT joint with one of the two DIODE handpiece joints, no difference
between the 2 joints.
c) The second DIODE handpiece joint with the device joint I (IN).
Prefill the plastic bottle with distilled water keeping the water bottle fully open.
3. Switch-on the device and once the “BIOTEC ITALIA” logo is displayed, push on the right corner
(see “display” pict.) and the service menu will appear (see “service menu” pict.).
4. Please wait for few seconds till the water pump begins to work. Keep the water level below the IN
joint in the refilling plastic bottle. Once the “COLD” circuit is full of water, switch off the device.

6.2.6. Water filling in the lamps cooling circuit standing version

Procedure:
Handpieces CPL, Nd:YAG, Q-Swiched and Erbium refill:
The “lamp” applicator cooling circuit utilizes a radiator and it is commonly called “hot
circuit”. To proceed with the refilling of the lamp applicator water cooling circuit, the
diode applicator needs to be connected to the device. If not connected “ CHECK WATER
FLOW!” alarm will be displayed on the screen. Please proceed follows:
1. Take the water refilling kit (see pict.3) and proceed with the following connections:
a) Attach the provided air flow tube on the back of the machine (see pict.6)
b) The device joint O (OUT) together with the refilling plastic bottle IN joint. (see pict.5).
c) The refilling bottle O (OUT) joint to the device joint I (IN). (see pict.5).
2. Refill the water bottle with distilled water and close the tank’s plug and cup.
Please note that during this operation the machine has to be switched off. You should
notice a water drop coming out from the transparent air flow tube on the back of the
device. Keep refilling until a drop of water is released from the air flow tube. Add water if
needed.

6.3.11. Hydraulic circuit, table version
The Xlase Plus is equipped with two different cooling circuits.
The “diode” applicator cooling circuit utilizes a chiller pack and it is commonly called “cold circuit”
The “lamp” applicator cooling circuit utilizes a radiator and it is commonly called “hot circuit”.
All the hydraulic system are installed on the metallic base of device and are fix with screws on the metal base.
Before removing one or more components of the hydraulic circuit drain the cooling liquid!
