Activity Guide and Evaluation Rubric – Task 4 Life Stories

1. Activity Description

With this activity, you are expected to achieve the following learning
outcomes:
Learning Outcome 2: Use the highest frequency vocabulary, common expressions,
and phrases, to handle very short social exchanges in synchronous encounters or oral
presentations.
Learning Outcome 3: Demonstrate comprehension of shorts audios or videos related
to areas of most immediate personal relevance when basic everyday vocabulary and
expressions are used.
Learning Outcome 4: Identify specific and explicit information from short and simple
written texts on familiar matters through various reading tasks.

The activity consists of:

Step 1. Download Template task 4 from the learning environment - activity guide
task 4; solve the exercises proposed there and use that template to solve the
activities stated here.

Step 2. Study the vocabulary related to milestones in the following link:

Step 3. Study the vocabulary about feelings and emotions in the following link and
complete the chart with 10 positive and 10 negative emotions and answer the

Step 4. Study the Past simple rules and past time expressions. Answer the following
questions related to present simple: (solve this exercise in the template task 4)

Step 5. Study the rules of pronunciation of regular verbs in past (-ed) and use
vocaroo (vocaroo.com) to record yourself pronouncing the verbs from step 4, it
means, the regulars and irregular ones in their present and past form.

Step 6. Use padlet (https://es.padlet.com/) to create a timeline where you describe


your 10 most important milestones, in those 10 you must include the following ones:

- The happiest day of your life


- An accident or mishap
- Your favorite trip
- A sad moment
Each milestone must follow the criteria:

- Use past simple to describe the events and use connectors to join the ideas.
- Use the vocabulary about feelings and emotions to describe how you felt in
each situation. Each milestone must have at least 5 lines of description.

Step 7. Turn the template task 4 into a PDF document where you include all steps in
the guide and name the document as follow: task4_fullname_ID.pdf (Do NOT share the
final document in the forum)

Step 8: Speaking Encounters*


Participate in 2 English Speaking Sessions per week via skype or hangouts (Use of
video camera and microphone is mandatory).
- Talk and participate actively during your session. Your grade will depend on your
participation.

Note: No evidence is required in this part if you subscribed in the Google form at the
beginning of this period to participate in these encounters. Your tutor will report your
grade.

2. General Guidelines for the Development of Evidences to Submit

For Individual evidences, consider the following:

• The document must have a front-page including information such as: title or
name of the activity, student’s name, student’s code, tutor’s name, university,
school, program, course and date. (Remember to check the APA style)

• Before submitting the requested product, students should check that it meets
all the requirements mentioned in this activity guide.

Please keep in mind that all individual or collaborative written products must comply
with the spelling rules and presentation conditions defined in this activity guide.
Regarding the use of references, consider that the product of this activity must
comply with APA style.
In any case, make sure you comply with the rules and avoid academic plagiarism.
You can review your written products using the Turnitin tool found in the virtual
campus.
