Topic 7 Indigenous Science & Technology

The first lesson that made interest in me that I am glad that I was able to learn
something about is the topic 7 Indigenous Science and Technology. I took a liking to
this topic in STS because it will tell about how amazing the indigenous science is. On
this topic, I was able to know how foods were done back in the days that was still
brought up to this present day. I am curious of how people was able to discover this
type of things but because of their perseverance of trials and errors, what they have
done is a huge help today. Preserving food is one of the greatest idea that was invented
from the past as technology back then was limited, which is why the processing
evolution through science is a big help. It is indigenous that people have contributions to
make medicines to fight back against several deadly diseases. Because of their hard
work and ethic, they have been able to help a lot of people to make their lives feel
better. Another note is the transportation is amazing that the Philippines have a very
own so called “jeepney” that is still being used today as it is one of the best way to
travel. I loved how this topic tackles the great inventions with the help of Science.
Topic 10 When Technology and Humanity Cross
The second topic that also peak my interest in Science that I got into is the topic
10 When Technology and Humanity Cross. The reason I got interested is because the
speculations of scientists are accurate that their predictions might be predicted to the
near future. It is very shocking to know that everything that we are done right now can
be done by someone else and not a person but an automatically moving robot, or
artificial intelligence. The technology is evolving fast that there are a lot of creations that
we may not even have to work anymore or worse is that we might get replaced by
something only artificial. I am interested to this topic because something came into my
mind that someday near in the future is that when artificial intelligence have been
progressed to advance. I am thinking that A.Is will be having a mind of their own that
they will imitate the way of living of humans. One of my guess is that A.Is will have a
living of their own that they will be having their own rights of living. This is because most
novels shows where artificial intelligence are living peacefully with humans. That is why
this topic is interesting because this could happen someday.
Topic 12 Information Age
The last topic that I have learned a lot because of the current state that we are
living in is the topic 12 Information Age. This topic is very relevant and helpful due to the
circumstances that everyone has been going through into this amidst of pandemic. I
have learned that everything was done starting by Gutenberg when he have invented
the printing press which has been improved through science. Information age is already
relevant from the years of 1900s because this is the start of it, that if you are comparing
it to this present day, the old technology has been improved so much better. Because of
technology diffusions, things are moving from one to another while getting improved and
better. The power of technology is so great that because of it, there is social media
where we can connect and interact with other people such as our family and friends.
And we can also get the news that we will be needing so that we get aware from areas
that surrounds us. We also get entertainment and some lessons if we use it properly.
That is why we have online class today that I am grateful to have an opportunity to be
able to still learn through hard times. Which is why technology is so great because when
things get worse, technology improves for us to get better.
