*Note 1.

Tests may include the following: Field Density Test, Sieve Analysis, Los Angeles Abrasion, and California
Bearing Ratio

**Note 2. Proof Rolling Test is a practice to examine the mass response of structure to vehicle-type loads before
pavement layers are constructed; is performed by driving a selected heavy vehicle over designated areas of the soil
surface. In case that there is no field density test performed, proof rolling test is required.

The coarse portion, retained on a 2.00 mm (No. 10) sieve shall have a mass percent of wear not
exceeding 50 by the Los Angeles Abrasion test determined by AASHTO T 96.

The material passing the 19 mm sieve shall have a soaked CBR value of not less than 80% as determined
by AASHTO T 193. The CBR value shall be obtained at the maximum dry density (MDD) as determined by
AASHTO T 180, Method D.

Compaction of each layer shall continue until a field density of at least 100 percent of the maximum dry
density determined in accordance with AASHTO T 180, Method D has been achieved. In-place density
determination shall be made in accordance with AASHTO T 191.
