EXPERIMENT -4

• AIM: To Draw a Polar array of a circle using

AutoCAD Software.

• APPARATUS REQUIRED:
1. Computer System
2. AutoCAD Software

• THEORY:
AutoCAD stands for Computer- Aided Design. This
software used for designing and drafting. It was
developed by Autodesk.
The polar array is defined as the arrangement of
copies of an object in a circular form. The polar
array is a 2d command through which we can
distribute any particular object around a base
point in 360 degree and manage their position as
well as number according to our requirement.
• PROCEDURE:
1.Open the AutoCAD software.
2.Click on the Circle icon on the Ribbon Panel,as
shown in below image.

3. Specify the center point on the workspace or

drawing area to draw a small circle.
4. Specify the diameter for a first circle (example-
1) and Press Enter.
5. Now, again select the Circle icon or type C on
the command line and specify a center point for a
big circle near the small circle.
6. Specify the diameter for the big circle (example-
5) and Press Enter.
The circles here will appear as the below image:

7. Select the Polar Array from the drop-down list of the

rectangular array on the ribbon panel.
The polar array icon will look like the given image:
8.Select the object (small circle ) with the small square
cursor and press ENTER as shown in the below figure.

9. Now, specify the Centre to create the array.

Here, we can specify the centre of the big circle.
We can also specify the centre
of any object according to the Requirement.
10. The default polar array will be created, as shown in
below image.
We can also type AR-> select the small object with the
square cursor-> select Polar -> select the centre axis ->
and then press Enter on the command line.
• OBSERVATIONS

Role of blue arrow in an array: The blue arrow is

used to rotate the copied objects of an array, as
shown in the below image.
Role of blue square in an array: The blue square is
used to manage the distance of the copied objects
of the array, as shown in the below image:

• CONCLUSIONS:

Now after this Experiment , you can understand

what polar command is in auto cad and how you
can handle its important features for getting the
best result in your work. You can handle
parameters of this command very easily by
practicing on this command again and again.
