Activity 1: Dice

Goal:

The purpose of this activity is to recall counting of objects and displaying them using their fingers.

Description:

A dice animation must be presented to the students. On each click of the mouse the dice must roll
and show a different face randomly. It must not show any face more than 10 times.

Activity 2: Fish Aquarium

Goal:

The purpose of this episode is to make tally marks to count the number of fishes in an aquarium and
then analyse the data by reviewing the tally marks.

Description:

A fish aquarium with three types of fishes is presented. The fishes must be swimming around in the
aquarium. Show 7 blue fishes, 10 orange fishes, and 3 striped black/red fishes.

An empty chart is also presented designed to record and display the number of fishes of each type.

The chart can be filled by selecting the fish in the tank. When a fish is selected, the fish colour fades
and turns to grey, and the number of fish of this type increases on the chart using a tally mark. Since
the fish swim around, selecting them will be an enjoyable activity for the students. Each time a fish is
selected, the respective tally mark increases by one. When the chart is completed (after selecting all
the fishes), the episode presents questions about the fish types.

Questions:

The following questions must be presented at the end of performing the tally marks activity. For
answers students must be shown buttons with names as given below after the questions and they
are required to click the correct button. When the student clicks the correct button, the episode
must automatically show the next question. When the student clicks the incorrect button, the
episode must wiggle and say “Try Again”.

Activity 3: Vowels

Goal:

The purpose of this activity is to use tally marks to count the number of vowels in a word and then
answer the questions by analysing the tally marks.

Description:

A list of 5 words must be presented to the students. The words must appear one after the other. On
each click of the mouse, a new word must be presented on the screen.

Activity 4: Birthday Party

Goal:

The purpose of this activity is to use tally marks to count the number of vowels in a word and then
answer the questions by analysing the tally marks.

Description:

A visual image showing a birthday party of a 8-10 year old child must be shown. In the image, there
must be a table displaying a variety of snacks as mentions in the table below. Underneath the image
the following chart must be shown.
