1.0 INTRODUCTION

Music and movement begin early in life when parents sing lullabies and dance with
infants in their arms. Children also sing and make body movement indicate their mood.
As with art, there is a human need to make music and move to do it. This need crosses
time and culture. Exploring music, like exploring art or sciences, uses physical skills,
involves feelings and social relationships, and enhances cognitive development by
opening opportunities for polishing problem-solving skills. Referring to the description
above, we chose the song “Five Little Monkeys”. The song has an associated finger-play
each verse being represented by an action.
Benefit of music in child development is experiences stimulate a child's auditory and
vestibular system, which helps develop listening skills as well as motor control and
coordination. Next, successful experiences in music help all children bond emotionally
and intellectually with others through creative expression in song, rhythmic movement
and listening experiences. Music time facilitate children's language and social
development.
Creative movement gives children an outlet for their physical energy, encouraging
them to express their feelings and creativity in nonverbal ways. Besides, creative
movement activities can be either totally open-ended or teacher-guided. In teacher-
guided activities, the adult provides the stimulus or frame which subtly structures the
movement activity. Children also need ample space including their own personal space
in which to move. By extending their arms out around them, children can define their
personal space. Furthermore, remember to move with the children without telling or
showing them how to move and remember to provide a psychologically safe environment
in which children feel comfortable to trust their creative impulses and move in ways that
make sense to them.
This song teaches the importance of following directions to ensure our children
safety. It also suitable for children aged 6 below. This rhyme is published all over the
internet and can be found very easily. As we know, children will love this song enjoy it.
For this assignment, our group were assign to do an activity related to music. The
theme of this activity is Move According to Music. Then, the Main strand for this activity
is Creativity and Aesthetic, for Content Standard we choose KE 1.3 Move according to
music, and for Learning Standard we choose KE 1.3.1 Move according to the lyrics of a
