Philosophy Of Arts

Philosophy of art refers to the study of the nature of arts, its

concept, interpretation, representation and form. It is closely related to
aesthetics, which is the study of beauty and taste.

Philosophical Perspective of Art

1. Arts as Mimesis (Plato)

According to Britanica Mimesis is a Greek word means
"imitation" (through the sense of "Rep-resentation" rather than
copying.")

In Memesis Theory, Plato says that all art is mimetic by nature: art is an
imitation of life he believe that the idea of it is the ultimate reality.

Plato Uses Carpenter and Chair as as Example.

2. Art as Representation (Aristotle)
Arts represents something. When artist uses signs
and symbols to take place of something else, he is using art as a
representatiom of such sign and symbols. It is through representation
that people organize the world and reality through the the act of having
its element. Signs and symbols are arranged in order to from semantic
constructions and express relations with the other things.

3. Art for Art's Sake (Kant)

It was Victor Cousin, a French Philosopher who
translated this slogan which means "Tart pour art". Artist associated with
aestheticism believe that art needs no justification. Art does not serve
political didatic or other hand.

4. Art as an Escape
Allen Weinstein said that without mental escape, we
build up a lot of anxiety within ourselves.
According to Seneres and Other (2008). The artist works of art reveal
the emotional burst that has been kept for many years in their mind.
