Rhetorical Knowledge

The way I originally wanted to format my mood board was where the pictures were overlapping,
but I couldn’t find a way to structure it the way I wanted it. I ended up structuring it in a more
organized way where the pictures are all side by side and there is some space in between them.
My audience was my classmates if I were to present it, and other professors. The genre of
mood boards are visual, which personally I did like, because I felt less pressured to come up
with words, and I enjoy showing my life through pictures rather than having to talk and explain
most of it.

Critical Thinking
I choose my color palette to be red, white, and green, because those are the colors of the
Mexican flag and that is something that greatly shows who I am and something that’s important
to me. The cross and crocodile image are the only ones that weren’t taken in Mexico. My
reasoning for choosing my quote is because I really take “you only live once” literally. You really
have to make the best of your life, and embrace everything you can in your life. I try to embrace
everything anytime I get a chance to go to Mexico, because it takes a really big part in who I am
today.

Processes
I think the only difficulty I had in this project was not having the images overlapping them how I
really wanted them. I also didn’t want just a white background, but I couldn’t find a color to
match and not look bad with the pictures I had, but I worked with what I could and ended up
liking my final draft. One piece of feedback that I felt really helped my mood board is when
Professor Scaife told me to use more shades of red and green instead of just having 3 colors. I
ended up adding 3 more colors to my palette and I really felt that it made my mood board come
together as a whole.

Knowledge of Conventions
When I put the quote on my mood board I didn’t find who had written it, but I found it right now
and the person who wrote it was Mae West, which I really don’t know anything about. I took all
the photos on my mood board except the crocodile skin one. Each of these pictures were taken
in Mexico, except the cross one which was taken in France, in a city where my sister lives. I did
not credit the person who had said the quote because when I had found the quote it didn’t have
the author on it.
